ciutat de girona

Advantages: excellent location, beautiful rooms, friendly staff, good food
Disadvantages: tv mainly in spanish

...took a taxi to the hotel which was about a 5minutes drive. There are, I believe, 2 buses an hour from the airport. The cost was around £2 i think. Our first impression of the hotel was that it was spotless and stylish, couldn't have been more central as it was right in the heart of the old town. The reception area was modern, bright and comfortable though minimalistic. The free mini bar and welcome drink ( I believe it was a local wine) with some ...
...way around The hotel has a resaurant which serves excellent food (so I heard) but we did not eat there at night so I couldn't speak from personal experience. Breakfast in the hotel was superb. There was a choice of cooked and continental style and it included tortillas which was delicious and highly recommended. One thing I'll say is that we did not discover the cooked breakfast until the 2nd day but it is there! Not much of a view but that didn't ...

Advantages: A wonderfully characteristic hotel

...very easy to find. The Alcazar de la Reina Hotel is situated in the heart of the old town. It's not hard to find as it's more than adequately signposted, but it's still a bit of an ordeal driving to it. The old town was not designed with the automobile in mind (in fact I doubt whether the wheel was even invented when much of this place was built!) and you must negotiate a torturous and convoluted route through the incredibly narrow streets and lanes ...
...be quite hair-raising - I don't have much hair so I was alright. When we eventually cleared the claustrophobic streets, we found ourselves at one of the highest points of the town with a car-park and small mirador at one side, and a magnificent, restored former palace at the other. Surely this impressive building couldn't be our hotel? A quick double-take confirmed that indeed it was. Although it dates from the 17th century, the building was totally ...

clean and friendly

Advantages: clean, friendly, beautiful views, plenty to do,good value for money, great food
Disadvantages: being away from main resort but only about 1 mile

we had a very pleasant holiday two weeks halfboard, staff were friendly and helpful, food and drink very good ,sometimes had to wait to be served at bar after dinner though. Entertainment was good ,especially kids disco about 8.00pm every night. The animacion team were very good with varied activities throughout the day- prizes given out at night. You are not badgered into participating like some hotels. Very quiet hotel with nice outlook. There ...
...About 1 mile walk to nearest good beach at playa limones where there is also a good but small selection of restaurants. Taxi fare from airport roughly 50 euros. Also about 7 euros to rubicon marina well worth a visit, market here wednesdays and saturdays- good bargains. Overall very happy with our stay will return. This was our 3rd stay here and if we had to say one thing that impressed us more than anything else it would have to be the excellent ...

Estival Park- Exceptional Hotel

Advantages: Location, Variety of food, activities, facilities, Clean, Good standard with friendly staff
Disadvantages: None

~~Platja de la Pineda~~ Platja de la Pineda is a very small town located on the outskirts of Salou. It has a small amount of shops and stalls dotted around with a vast amount of golden sandy beach and a water park. It's location is great being in a family friendly area that is close to Tarragona and Salou that are bigger resorts. Big family fun at Fortaventura can be had at about a 15-20 minute bus ride away and Barcelona is about 45 minutes to ...
...into is Reus which is about a 20 minute coach journey away and while the airport is small it's quick to get through and very helpful e.g. they sort out car hire, transfers and even accommodation if required. ~~Estival Park~~ The hotel is large ranging over 3 smaller hotels each having their own outdoor pools. They offer a broad range of offers from bed and breakfast, half board, full board and all inclusive. I have stayed at this hotel twice, ...

...main road that goes through santa susanna in costa brava spain. It took us an hour and half to get from the airport but we did have alot of drop offs to do on the way. I would advise getting a mini bus as your transfer rather than a coach as will get you there quicker. Also check (if you can) as to what time they are going to pick you up on your departure date as we got picked up at 2am for a 10:30am flight so were stuck at the airport for hours that ...
...booked a mini bus transfer through TRAVEL REPUBLIC and got picked up at 7am instead for the 10:30 flight which is much better especially if you have young children with you. The hotel is set over a number of levels so there are alot of steps but they also have lifts to get you to each level. The resturant is at the lowest level(basement) and across the corridor they have the nightly quiz which is always fun but there are no windows so a bit dark ...
