Sparsa Resort is built on 3 acres of land, is ideally situated opposite to the beach ,located on Beach Road, next to Sunset Point in Kanyakumari, which is approximately 90 km from the Thiruvananthapuram Airport, and 2 km from the Kanyakumari Railway Station...There is not much greenery around the hotel except for the cultivated shrubs and gardens. About Kanyakumari

Cape Comorin or Kanyakumari ( which means virgin girl, or unmarried girl) as it is known in Tamil is a popular tourist destination located at the southernmost tip of India , in the state of Tamilnadu. Here the 3 oceans merge into one another...the Indian Ocean, Arabian sea and the Bay of Bengal.
Kanyakumari has the sea and the Western Ghats in the background and the town is covered with paddy fields and coconut groves.It is very picturesque with an abundance of greenery all round it.
It is a holy place for Hindus.There is a temple on the sea shore for Goddess Kanyakumari, consort of Lord Shiva.

It is probably one of the most popular tourist spots in south India - a spectacular place that has the most unique sunrise and sunset.
There is a gigantic statue of Tamil saint- poet Thiruvalluvar, built on a Huge rock jutting out to the ocean which gets submerged at high tide . This is the tallest statue in the whole of Asia. Just by its side is the Vivekananda rock memorial, which can be reached through ferry boats.

The other major attractions here are the Udayagiri fort, an ancient fort of the Chola dynasty, the view from the fort and the park atop a hill is breathtaking to say the least !
There are innumerable ancient temple built by the Chola kings like the 'Adikeshava' temple at Tiruvattar believed to be nearly 2200 years old and the 'Suchindram' Temple at the nearby Nagarkoil..There is a spectacular waterfall 'The Thirparappu' falls which also has an ancient temple built at the bottom of the falls.
One of the largest Aqueducts in Asia ' The Mathur Hanging Trough' is an Aqueduct built across a small river originating from Western Ghats. It has a walkway along the duct which is at a height of 115 ft , one can walk along the side of the Aqueduct and watch the water flow. It is a thrilling experience to walk along with the flowing water.
Kanyakumari is a very interesting tourist spot .The beach is filled with Rocks and it is a lot of fun to jump from one rock to the other. It is safe for children because of these rocks which break the force of sea waves and act as a barrier. They have withstood the Tsunami !

The major drawback within the town is the food . It is cheap no doubt, but the quality is sub standard. There are not many eating joints serving decent food. It is very surprising taking into account the number of tourists visiting the place..

But the locals are full of it and show you and tell you the details.

Sparsa Kanyakumari is a new resort that has been built after the disaster and as of now, it is probably the best place to stay in Kanyakumari. I was told that there was a little restaurant and a house at the spot and vast stretch of coconut garden, which was almost destroyed by the typhoon .

It is located very close to the beach with a good view of sunrise and sunset from the roof top. It is ideally located with almost every room in the hotel having a superb view of the sea ..The staff service is good, very courteous. This happens at most new resorts as they need to build up their reputation., but one has to wait and watch how things shape up after that, that's where most hotels fail to make a mark. The classier ones maintain their standard of service , more so when they have built up a reputation.
The check in process was very fast and the staff very enthusiastic, though we had arrived well after mid night, having lost our way a couple of times. The room service was excellent , the food arrive within 30 minutes.
Thankfully the food was good, which is a major issue ,as I have said earlier Kanaya kumari has a bad reputation where good eating joints are concerned.
The next morning we got to explore the premises and found it good, but I wouldn't compare it to a Grand Ashoka or The Tatas group of Hotels....It is comfortable , clean and well maintained. Being new had its advantages. The decor is O:K, nothing to get excited about.
The hotel has been given a 4 star rating, though I am not still sure how they do it. I know the basic requirements. But I have felt that there is some loophole there where some hotels rated higher and I feel that is the case here. I would think a 3 star is more like it .As I told earlier it doesn't compare with any of the classy hotels .

There are 50 air-conditioned rooms/villas at the Resort which are comfortable and spacious, and come with amenities Wi-Fi internet connectivity (though chargeable) , Cable television, Telephone, Tea/Coffee maker, A Fruit basket...

There is a Swimming pool, a Spa, A Gym , a Meditation center, Travel desk and Guide services..
The price for an A/C double room inclusive of taxes is about Rs 4180/- which is not cheap..

There is a dearth of good Hotels in Kanyakumari, the older established resorts are not too well maintained and the others are over priced for the kind of facilities they provide, so as of now Sparsa is attracting a lot of guests...
