I love cats, steam trains and short breaks.
A bit of a foodie my favourite saying is 'so many restaurants, so little time'!

This hotel is beautifully located for visiting the city of Oxford laying just between the main A34 and the town centre, which is just a short walk away. Set in lovely grounds, the reception area is welcoming and the staff are highly professional, impeccably dressed and make you feel so very welcome. The hotel has conferencing facilities and meeting rooms which are well serviced and having spent two days of meetings there, everything was delivered exactly as ordered and dead on time. As it was a lovely morning, they also quickly accommodated our request to take coffee on the patio outside. The rooms were exceptionally large and well equipped –mine had a huge four poster 6 ft bed! There was a large TV with remote, neatly stored away in a lovely cabinet, a mini bar and a large en-suite bathroom with walk in shower, separate bath, WC and two washbasins! Even the sound from the TV was piped into the bathroom, so you could listen to your favourite radio station or TV programme whilst bathing. There was also a settee and armchair for sitting to watch the TV if you didn’t want to lay on the bed. On the bed was a beautifully folded white towelling robe for my use – and surprisingly (being a larger lady!) it went right round me. The bath towels were also generously sized. The window overlooked a section of the car park, which was very clean and well kept, along with some of the gardens and trees. The health suite and pool was impressive – beautifully clean, well equipped and with sauna and Jacuzzi. The staff there were very welcoming and friendly, helpfully explaining the procedure and the lockers. The pool was lovely and warm and at its busiest had only 4 or 5 people in it. The restaurant had a lovely view of the garden and the staff were attentive and friendly, making an effort to address guests by name to give a personal feel. The food was good, although slightly disappointingly didn’t live up to the rest of the place as the chicken I had was slightly dry and the lemon meringue dessert needed an effort to crack the meringue. However, the wine list was good and we enjoyed a good bottle of Chablis at a fairly reasonable price, and dinner and entertainment events are provided there for £19.99 per person for a three course meal. I would definitely recommend it for a conference or meeting, or a short break and visit to Oxford.
