-------------------- When / Why? I visit the Sport Hotel Village once a year, and have done so since 2001. (Previous to this, we used to stay in the Sport Hotel across the road) I stay here during the half term break in March, for 1 week. The reason, the resort is perfect, with a wide range of runs, from green to black. -------------------- Location The hotel is located in Soldeu, Andorra, to the foot of the Grandvalira slopes. With easy access to the hotel from the main road, and the slopes. The bottom of the piste runs directly into the lifts on the ground floor. Andorra is located on the borer between France
and Spain, on the eastern Pyrenees. Of course, this hotel is available all year round. For the winter, the ski resort offers excellent skiing and snowboarding with the best and biggest slopes in the Pyranees. During the summer, it's the perfect place to go mountain trekking, biking and white water rafting.
-------------------- Amenities The hotel provides a range of amenities such as indoor ski shop, coffee bar, alcoholic / beverage bar, snooker room, lounge, dinning area and internet access. There is also a direct indoor route to the swimming pool and spar next door. Providing saunas, steam rooms, Jacuzzis, massage rooms, indoor and outdoor swimming pools. It's fantastic on a cold evening to swim outside in the heated pool, and relax in the Jacuzzi overlooking the ski slopes. Makes me wish I was there now…… The restaurant is superb, with a buffet laid on for breakfast and evening meals, there is too much to choose from. From cereal to croissants, coffee to apple juice. These meals are excellent for recovering your strength for the day. Each evening, the meals are different, however still providing a wide range of choice. Chips, fish, lasagna, steak, soup, the choice really is yours. With my partner being vegetarian, this can sometimes become a real challenge when eating out. However, by notifying the restaurant manager, the chef arrived at our table, with a personally prepared meal comprising of meat free products. Of course, then there's the deserts… Ice cream? Chocolate moose? Fudge cake? Pancakes? You name it, they have it. And remember, you can have as much as you like. Towards the end of the evening, when most tables will be ready for desert, the chef is seen making 'tonight's special' desert. From pancakes to banana splits.
-------------------- Rooms The rooms are fantastic. Comprising of single, double, twin, triple and quad layouts. Some mountain facing with a balcony, others facing views of distance mountains. I have stayed in double, twin and quad rooms, all to a very high standard. With 1 to 2 floors (bedroom upstairs), bathroom, cable television, phone, safe, fridge, hairdryer, room service and a mini bar. The rooms are cleaned every day, including towels and the beds being made. The doors are opened using a swipe card, which also activates the electricity by slotting it into a box. There are 9 floors through out the hotel. Floor 1 - 4 are rooms Ground floor - Reception / lobby / lounge -1 Restaurant -2 Shop / Locker rooms -3 Access to the gondola -4 Slopes On each floor of 1 - 4, the layout is fantastic, with a cut out feature in the centre, giving you the view of the reception / lobby. Then a corridor with low railings continue all the way around the floor. The room doors each open out, over looking the railings / cut out view of reception. This gives an open and light feel to the hotel, with huge glass pane windows above.
-------------------- Price / Star This hotel has a 4 star rating, one of the best in the resort. Prices for the hotel varies throughout the year. Some may say it's expensive, others will say it's value for money. I'll let you make that choice.
-------------------- Overall I absolutely love this hotel. From all I have stayed in, this wins my vote. Excellent customer service, fantastic amenities, quality food and perfect location for easy access to the slopes. I recommend this hotel to all. And I will continue to use this hotel for a long time yet…
