Sporting Villa Maria, Francavilla Al Mare

Advantages: relaxed friendly non touristy holiday
Disadvantages: transfer time from airport is long but worth it

...been to makriyalos 5 times although it is not particularly pretty there is somehting about the place and the peple that make you want to return have stayed at the villa plori 4 times and booked privately and stayed at maria,s further up the street. the problem being at the moment for 2009 kosmar are only doing tuesday flights from glasgow and plori is only taking bookings fri to fri. so thinking of booking our own flights and gerting our own accommodation. a trip to sitia is a nice day out also spinalonga. food wise makriyalos has plenty places although by far our favourite was dolores past the harbour and over the hill next to george,s taverna also the opposite way michael,s was also good he served british or thai food. the italian place was also good. if anyone can recommend any other private accommodation on the beach at makriyalos... Advantages: Lots to do so you never get bored, beautiul scenery and wildlife.
Disadvantages: Quite pricey once you get there.
