Upon arrival we were greeted at the door by a porter, who took our luggage into the lobby for us, and placed it upon a luggage trolley. After a slight delay at check in (as my girlfriends dad was wanting ... ...know how to do this!) we were on our way to our room, passing the swimming and sauna area on the way up.
That was the first thing we did after getting to our room, we went for a swim. The pool isn't the biggest and I can imagine is quite unpleasant when crowded, but we didn't experience this, and perhaps never is. Upon arrival we were greeted at the door by a porter, who took our luggage into the lobby for us, and placed it upon a luggage trolley. After a slight delay at check in (as my girlfriends dad was wanting to pay using his Marriott loyalty card, and they didn't know how to do this!) we were on our way to our room, passing the swimming and sauna area on the way up.
That was the first thing we did after getting to our room, we went for a swim. The pool isn't the biggest and I can imagine is quite unpleasant when crowded, but we didn't experience this, and perhaps never is. The pool attendant was very helpful and polite, helping us by giving us towels and showing us where the changing rooms were.
Mid afternoon we had our meal in one of the suites. The food was brilliant, service good (the only problem was a mix up with the wines) and they accommodated everybody with no fuss. We had our own bar in the suite and around three or four waiters all to ourselves, (for a group of around 15!) There was a 5 month old baby there, as well as 2 OAPs, and all age groups were happily catered for.
After this we went for a walk round the grounds, and watched two or three holes of golf on the seemingly flawless course - this is my biggest regret of the weekend that I didn't get to play golf!
In the evening we went over to the golf club for a light meal and this again was a friendly atmosphere.
On the Sunday morning we again went for a swim, and checked out midday on the Sunday feeling totally relaxed, refreshed and delighted with how the weekend had gone.
Value for Money - Not actually aware how much the price was, however I must say that the quality of the hotel was such that it almost wouldn't matter how much the rooms were, they would be good value!
Quality of Rooms - The rooms were well fitted, with two ¾ sized beds and an en suite bathroom, with separate bath and shower. Good view over the golf course!
Standard of Service - As already mentioned, the service wasn't great. The receptionists didn't know about the Marriott Loyalty points scheme, and then we got the wrong wine at the table for our meal.
Quality of Food and Drink - The food was divine, of the highest quality in the hotel, and still of a good standard in the golf club.
Cleanliness - 10/10
Quality of facilities - Good swimming pool and sauna area, games room, bar, golf course - what more do you need?!
Family friendly - Probably, lots of good facilities although probably aimed at not having children there.

Advantages: Great hotels, and facilities Disadvantages: EXPENSIVE!!!
After another argument with the little lady I was feeling stressed and in need of some TLC. "Right that’s it" I shouted, "We are going away for a night". To which she replied "where?”
She had a point, i am only 21, I can’t drive and i am not rich in any way shape or form. Despite this I really needed a break from reality. The Christmas bonus had just been deposited into my bank account so I thought of the closest 4 star I could think of. "We are ... ...I not knowing the name at the time.
So off we went, as we pulled down the seemingly endless drive from the main road I thought gosh this looks different to any hotel I had ever stayed in (i am more used to forte pothouses or similar!!). It was an impressive country manor type building with a beautiful fountain in the front courtyard. I could feel my wallet burning!!
"That will be £109 for a double room sir" said the receptionist. Well for one night ...
