yala west

Advantages: a decent safari
Disadvantages: long time in a jeep on bumpy roads!!

...did all the touristy things,and yala west was one of them. we stayed in a cheap hotel in one of the towns that organised their own jeep safari to yala west. it really doesnt matter where you stay because if you stay in one of the towns near yala west almost every hotel runs their own safari package (and the prices are very competitive). ...of the tourist price (there is a big difference). we set of a 5am and prepared our selves for a 12 hour jeep ride. it gets hot throughout the day, you feeluncomfortable and tired because it is so long but it is one of those things you could quite happily do opver and over again. Galle - Sri Lanka

Advantages: valued experiences
Disadvantages: No

...went on a trip to Galle with my friends. We took "Ruhunu Kumari" train. It was operated through the coastal area. Scenery was so beautiful and we enjoyed very much.The beaches are very beautiful. ...we have reached Galle. Galle is a very old city. There is so much to see. I felt so happy. We went to the Fort and walked on the ramparts and on the esplanade. Ramparts were built by Dutch to guard the city of Galle. Some of the ancient buildings in that fort also belong to the Dutch period. I can not forget "Unawatuna". Beaches are lovely and the water is so warm to get sea bath. We did not forget to collect so many see shells and pieces of coral. ...

Review of Galle (Sri Lanka)

It's not just another crowded Asian city

Advantages: Relatively modern, decent facilities, reasonably clean
Disadvantages: Chaotic traffic, little night-life

Colombo is probably the only very "big" city in Sri Lanka. However, it still has only a population of half a million, which is quite small when compared to the metropolises of India. Its relatively small size does have its advantages : it's reasonably easy to get around the city, and most parts are quite clean. Many of the major hotel chains can be found in the city, with many of the big hotels clustered together in the commercial heart of the city ...
...and ships coming in to Colombo habour. Some great bargains can be had especially when it comes to clothing. Shops like Odel unlimited and House of Fashion offer great quality original designer clothing (much of it made in Sri Lankan factories) and amzing prices. When we are considering on Kandy we can not miss the "Kandy perahara". (Esala Perahera)It is a cultural pegeant. I went to see that great annual pegeant. Dalada perahera and four Devala's perahera were included to that greatest Esala perahera. Four occassions were included to that. They were athule perahera, kumbal perahera, Randoli perahera and Devala perahera. Esala perahara began by setting up the four posts. There was a small perahera which ...
