...It was one of those rare days that we "happened upon" St Albans and it's Cathedral. Having half a day to kill whilst the car was being serviced in Chiswick, West London, although our loan car, being electrically assisted, was, for now at least, exempt from the Central London Congestion Charge, we made the positive decision to leave "The Smoke" and search out somewhere a touch less claustrophobic.

Advantages: Beautifully Decorated Disadvantages: Quite Difficult To Find
...of St Marie's is tucked away off the pedestrianised shopping area of Fargate, on Norfolk Row, which is also often referred to colloquially as St Marie's Parade.
Surrounded by some of the tallest buildings within the town centre it is actually a place that you could quite easily miss if you did not know it was there. I have lived in Sheffield all of my life, and although I have always known of its existence it was, until last week, a place that I had never been inside.
It can be easily be approached on foot from the main Interchange bus station and railway station via a short 5 minute walk. It is located at the address below, more or less opposite the Crucible Theatre, which is now world famous as the host of the annual World Snooker Championships.

...Does Manchester have a cathedral.you, may ask? It is not known for it. Surely Old Trafford is its cathedral. Yes it does. I visited the cathedral and its fairly new visitos centre numerous times. The first time I went with my parents when they were visiit8ing Manchester in October 2002. I subsequently visited the Cathedral and its visitor’s centre to review it for a project for university.
