St David's Bay Hotel in Cardiff Bay is in a glorious position out on a peninsula in the bay - one side of the hotel faces the bay and the other towards Cardiff itself. We drove to the hotel and were not disappointed by our first impression of the setting, and having parked the car, we made our way into the hotel. Our room had a fabulous view over Cardiff Bay, and although it was winter we made use of the balcony as it was quite sheltered and it was very peaceful. The room was quite standard which was surprisingly for a hotel with such a good reputation; we were expecting a bit more; although it was clean and tidy and the en-suite was spotless. The spa facilities were wonderful - we really enjoyed a lazy Sunday morning in the pool and the hot tub, overlooking the bay through the panoramic windows.
