The location of St David’s hotel is superb it is a 10 minute drive to Cardiff city centre, Millennium Stadium and Cardiff Castle and the National Welsh Assembly is just around the corner. Set in the heart of Cardiff Bay, the hotel is opposite the Mermaid Quay which offers a wide range of restaurants, bars and entertainment, providing a vibrant extension to the attractions that the city centre offers.
St David’s Hotel is renowned for their cuisine and their restaurant offers wonderful views overlooks Cardiff Bay and in the summer periods dining is allowed out on the terrace. The bar is suitable for all taste from snazzy cocktails to welsh beer. On a Saturday evening live music is also provided in the bar.
St David’s Hotel even has its own 5 star Spa which includes two marine hydro pools, swimming pool, sauna, gym, fitness studio, treatment rooms and separate relaxation rooms.
This hotel is said to be the best in Wales and I must agree I was lucky enough to spend a night a few months back and I must say it was superb its home from home and the staff are so friendly and cater for everything you need. It may seem a bit pricy but it’s well worth it.
I was with a few of my family when i went there and after having a wonderful breakfast we had a choice of a full cooked breakfast, toast, every sort of egg, cereals, fruit to much to describe. You could see that all the food was freshly cooked and it hadnt been sat in the kitchen for hours. We all did are own thing i went for a lovely sauna and a full body massage and OH MY GOD it felt like i was in heaven it was truely amazing. My cousin used the swimming pool and the gym and she was amazed by how much gym equipment was actually there because in most hotels they have a running machine and some weights this had the works.
The bedrooms were amazing very spacious and the view that i had across the bay was out of this world living in Cardiff all my life i think i take for granted some of the views that we have here and this one i will keep for a long time. There was plenty of wardrobe space however there werent as many hangers as i would have liked and i did have to actually ask for some more. The bed oh my it was so so nice it wasnt hard and it wasnt soft it was just right sound a bit like goldilocks here and in the cupboard there was extra pillows which i did have to use as i like quite a few pillows on my bed. The bedroom did come with a hairdryer however i have shoulder length hair and trying to use their hairdryer was a nightmare as i couldnt seem toget it right so if i get to stay there again i will be taking my own hairdryer.
The bathroom well comes with these really thick bathrobes and i felt like a film star all wrapped up in them and soft and fluffy so nice. The shower was excellent two (i love a power shower) and they have a selection of free tolietries which arent the crap stuff that you usually get in hotels.
Advantages: Centrally located, range of services Disadvantages: Certainly not classy!

Nowadays it is a swish waterfront development of cafes, bars, restaurants, a splendidly restored Norwegian Seaman's Church (where Cardiff-born Roald Dahl was baptised), and restored old buildings like grand old Pierhead Building, the galleried Coal Exchange (now a mid-sized music venue) and the informative Techniquest technology centre (see other reviews in Cardiff).
Hotels for all budgets abound - 5-star ones like the StDavid's Spa in the Bay to comfy guest houses in the lovely tree-lined Cathedral Road, near the Stadium.
Eating out is easy - walk to Canton's Cowbridhe Road, where there is an abundance of Indian, Chinese, Italian, Turkish etc restaurants. There are also many good but pricier options in the Bay.
Best drinks are the Brain's Brewery owned traditional bars like the Cottage on St Mary Street, and in Canton ...
