This very impressive building claims the title of being Europe’s largest glass structure.

The unusual design of the centre makes you feel that you are visiting a shopping centre that is different from the average mall and from the selection of shops that you find this would be right. As well as some of the leading chain stores such as Debenhams, Boots and Bhs, there are many smaller outlets selling a great variety of unusual and interesting items.

There is an enormous Food Court with 850 seats spread out over a number of levels on curved spacious veranda style areas. There is also a soft play area so the youngsters can let off steam whilst the “oldies” can enjoy a cup of coffee. There are about a dozen food outlets and we were very impressed by the service and the prices here. They claim that this is the largest Food Court in Scotland and I can certainly believe that, as it is the largest I have ever seen.
The centre is open every day except Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, with late night opening on Thursdays.
The centre management seem to be keen on communicating with their customers and produce a very good free magazine called Instore which is available throughout the centre. Also they have an excellent web site (http://www.stenoch.co.uk) which is much more than just a list of the shops in the centre.
The are also a number of events arranged in the centre including live music, celebrity visits and speciality evenings. This are listed in the magazine and on the web site.
What I did find surprising was that quite a number of the shop units were empty. I would have thought that in a centre like this every place would have been full. Perhaps that is more a reflection on the general state of the economy rather than on this centre.
We enjoyed our visit to this centre and I know next time we are in Glasgow this will one of the first places we shall be heading for. A very pleasant shopping experience.
Advantages: Main Stream shops, eating area. Disadvantages: A tad grotty, confusing entrances and exits!
BACKGROUND:
-----------------------
The St Enoch centre in the middle of Glasgow is the largest shopping centre in Scotland...and impressively also the largest glass structure in Europe.
The centre opened in 1989 and since then has become a popular complex for Glaswegians/visitors.
STORES:
----------------------
St Enoch has the major stores you would expect to see in every town centre...TK Maxx, Boots, Bhs, Debenhams etc...you are spolit for ... ...weather ;]
LOCATION:
-------------------------
St Enoch centre isn't hard to miss! All the stores that people usually shop at in Glasgow are in the same area...and St Enoch centre is right at the bottom. It is right next to the underground/bus station and a 5 minute walk from the train station so it's VERY easy to get to.
One thing that always throws me when I go [every weekend!] is the exits and entrances. There is so many and it would be easy ...

Advantages: Cheap and Trendy Disadvantages: Does get rather crowded
This place just screams Student! It has loads of high street clothing stores selling trendy clothes at very affordable prices. The shopping center is made up of 2 levels. On the first floor there are the clothing stores with a few eating places that sell stuff like ice cream, sandwiches and cookies and fast food place. On the second floor there is the Food court where you can sit in to eat after having purchased from the fast food restaurants. There ...

St Enoch's Centre is the most popular shopping centre in the whole of Glasgow and it's good. It isn;t the best but it has a lot in it. I don't live in Glasgow but live in Edinburgh, I get the bus through and from the bus station can walk to the nearest underground. I can then get it to the St Enoch stop and go in. There are ltos of shops like Boots, Quiz a clothes shop, TK Maxx, and many others. My favourite part of the centre is The Food Court there ...

Advantages: central location Disadvantages: paying for toilets
i like the st. enoch centre, it has loads to offer, ample parking, central location, clean and pleasent especially since the smoking ban, plenty of choice of shops from clothes to toys, books to travel agents, even the most fussiest of eaters like me will find something to enjoy at the food court. it is however challenging visiting the st.enoch center with young children. when needing to use the bathroom without having to change a nappy you have ... ...pay twenty pence. the same for the jelly club. the jelly club is great fun, my kids love it, i do not love carrying a pushchair upstairs because there is no lift to access a childrens area. myself and i'm sure others would visit more often if these facilities where made more accsesible. ...

The transport in Glasgow is easy to access there are always buses, trains are frequent and buses are always going. The people will help you if you are lost and Buchanan Galleries are a great place to visit while here. ...

and fruit in the morning. The selection was limited and everything was pre packed, and pretty basic.
There was a licensed bar. My husband asked for a bottle of Magners cider. They only had half bottles which he had two of at a cost of approximately £6.50 so very expensive. I asked at reception for an iron and was presented with a microscopic travel iron, which was no use at all so a thumbs down on that one too.
Cost
We booked two rooms one double and one twin for three nights in August which was a whopping £460. I did get the rooms on a flexi rate so when we decided to leave early we didn't have to pay for the third night, so that wasn't so bad.
Location
You can't beat it for location, on the bank of the river Clyde at the end of West Nile Street, it really is in the heart of Glasgow. StEnoch's shopping centre is seconds walk away ...
Fury Murrys is situated near the Stenochcentre car park. It is quite a small club but it is great fun. On a thursday night you get the privelage of very cheap or even free entry, and good priced drinks and special drink promos. The dance floor isnt very big but it is big enough, on student night you will find a very relaxed atmosphere, casual dress even trainers and jeans. There isnt much of a seating area near the dancefloor but there is a seating area downstairs also. You are sure to become a regualr of Fury Murrys once you start going. There is also a Fury Murrys in Paisley, which tends to get very busy on thur, fri and sat nights. discounts available for students. There is also regualr gigs and new bands playing in glasgow. ...
