Hi all i have made a mistake with this review this is for the St. Giles hotel in bedford avenue London not the one that i have written the review for sorry for any inconvenience. Silly me
The address is Bedford Avenue, Bloomsbury, Camden, London, WC1B 3AS

My girlfriend and me stayed at the St. Giles hotel while visiting London as we were going to see the Backstreet boys, well I was dragged along.

We looked everywhere over the Internet and the St. Giles was the nicest one we could find at a good price, well for London anyway.

The hotel is just off Oxford Street and near Tottenham court road tube station. Therefore it is ideal for shopping and great for getting on the tube to other destinations. There is also a theatre where you can watch musicals just up the road about 100 meters away so you do not have to worry about taxi's and getting home if you go out for a few drinks (there are also a few pubs just around the corner). Just as you leave the hotel there is also a Tesco local across the road, which was very handy, as we went room only

When we first arrived check in was easy, there was a very nice Polish girl on the counter, she was very polite and friendly and made check in quick and pain free. You can have a chioce on smoking or non-smoking rooms, no pets are allowed and children under two can stay free.

The foyer was outstanding, it is covered in marble and is all nice and shiny and looked very upmarket. The lifts were spacious and clean. When you got to the corridors the rooms were on the décor went a little down hill, it was simple and plain. But I was not sleeping in them so this did not really matter. There were also vendor machines in the corridors, although these were expensive (around £1 for a Mars bar).

We got to our room and could not believe how nice it was. Oh, yes you get a card to get into your room you place it in the slot and the door is unlocked. When we walked in the room was dark, but you have to place the card in another little slot, and this turns the lights on. This I found amazing. (Boys and their toys lol).

The room was of average size, not too big not too small. It had a wardrobe and a few cupboards. Also a dressing table that was integrated with the wardrobes. There were also tea and coffee making facilities, but only enough if you wanted one cup each per day. It would have been nice to have more.

The décor was very nice and there was plenty of light, nicely situated around the room. The bedding was a little drab, not my colour but it was clean, and there were also extra pillows in the wardrobe. The bed was comfortable and warm which is always a bonus.

My only complaint about the room was that the carpet was a little messy if not dirty so would recommend taking slippers or such like.

The room came with satellite T.V., the basic channels where free but you could opt to pay extra to see movies and adult entertainment. We did not take advantage of this, as we were sight seeing and did not want to stay in our room.

There was also a free safe in the room; which was nice as you usually have to pay. Unfortunately the safe locked on its own with out tickets in, there was a big panic from the other half. We had to phone reception and it took around 40 mins for the duty manager to come and sort it out. This was very disappointing as we nearly missed the Backstreet boys. A blessing to me but a catastrophic event for my girlfriend

The bathroom in the hotel, which is en suite was of a sufficient size was clean and tidy, there was no sign of mildew or dirtyness. There is a good-sized shower cubicle, toilet and sink. In the bathroom were clean towels, shampoo conditioner, shower gel, soap and even a shoe shiner, which were changed daily.

We only stayed in room only, and so obviously cannot comment on the food. Although I understood that you had to go to a different building to obtain food, this was a restaurant near by.

This hotel also has London's largest gym (YMCA) underneath it, which you can use for three pounds. We personally did not use it as we were there for fun not to sweat and work out. This would be ideal if you are doing business in London and are not bothered about seeing the attractions. We read that the hotel had an ironing room (free) and dry cleaning at a price.
You can only check in from 2PM and you need to be out of your room by 11Am to avoid paying for another night.

Now here is the biggest tip I can offer you when booking for this hotel, please please go to www.activehotels.com and book it on there as early as you can. I got a £150 a night room for only £75. This site has some great deals and can save you allot of money.

Don't worry about paying until you get there, the money only comes out of your account at check-in. So if you book five months in advance you do not need to worry about having the funds to pay when booking.

My girlfriend and I have stayed in some right dumps in London of course at a cheaper price but paying extra for this was worth every penny. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and will definitely be returning this year.

I gave this a good review while complaining about the carpet as we have stayed in some real messy dumps in London and I was not bothered about the carpet, I'm not into sucking toes so will not be touching feet.

I stayed here last October. We were bed and breakfast, and the breakfast was very nice. Our shower was always cold though :( xx
