...dominates from the minute you step in the front door. The ceiling is grand, it so beautifully depicts the life of StPeter by Franz X Konig. The abbey is dedicated to patron saints StPeter and St Paul. It presents as medieval world of the Romanesque architecture. Have to mention the organ - 1620/1763 it includes statues of StPeter and St Vitus - it is so so grand. Gold, ancient paintings and an environment drenched in history - you really must see StPeter's Abbey when in Salzburg.
SALZBURG CATHEDRAL
In the centre of the old town stands the earliest Italian-type church built north of the Alps. It's stood there since the early days of Salzburg and it is quite different. Bright orange tones and the most fantastic old paintings on the sides and up on the ceiling. It was bombed in World War II but is now restored to the original state. Many...

Advantages: Lovely Building, Lots Of History Disadvantages: Often Closed
...The Parish Church of StPeter can be found in the small, picturesque town of Hope in the heart of the Peak District National Park.
Visitors, who drive through Hope on their way to Castleton 3 Kilometres further down the road, often overlook this Village. However, whilst it is true that Castleton may have more to offer for the tourist, Hope is a charming little place and should not be dismissed.

In addition to being...

This Church was built in 1870 and was originally created as a place of worship for the Duke of Devonshire, his family and his staff. Today the current Duke and Duchess still use this Church as their regular place of worship and they can often be found here during Sunday service.
For such a relatively modern Church this is quite a grand affair. It has an architectural style that predates its true origin by a couple of centuries and there are wonderful stained glass windows and lots of fancy gold decorations on both the inside and the outside of the Church. This is a true demonstration of the amount of wealth...

The title of this film, together with the fact that it is now shown under the ‘Hammer’ label as a horror film, might immediately place a picture in your mind of huge rampaging monsters roaring across the mountains and ruthlessly tracking down more
