Game fish safari
Advantages: A great day out, very cheap compared to other destinations, huge fish Disadvantages: You may not catch anything, it's a long day
...I saw an advertisement from Crystal Blue Sports Fishing.
Who are they
Crystal Blue Sports Fishing Charters is the brain-child of Greg Allen, who is affiliated with the International Game Fishing Association (IGFA) through St. Vincent’s Game Fishing Association. Greg has over 15 years experience fishing the islands in the Grenadines, so he is more than qualified.
The boat
The boat "Crystal Blue" is a 34ft sport fishing pirogue combined ... ...landing those huge fish).
Crystal Blue is not ultra modern but it is a gorgeous boat nonetheless, and is more than adequate for the fishing excursions.
Prices
At the time of writing a half-day (4 hours) costs US$400, a three quarter day (6 hours) costs US$500 and a full day (8hours) costs US$600. The price includes all tackle (which is top of the range stuff and very heavy duty in order to land the large fish) and bait, although the bait is ...

The Niagra of St Vincent
Advantages: Very picturesque, nice plunge pool to swim in, plenty of diving in points Disadvantages: Not as big or impressive as I was expecting
The Falls of Baleine are located on the North West side of St Vincent and can only be reached by boat, therefore for tourists that don’t know anyone on the island the only way to get there is to go on an organised tour. A lack of tourists on the island will mean that getting a tour is not as easy as it is in other holiday destinations, where you are touted everywhere. In St Vincent it is the tourist that has to do all the hard work and actively seek ... ...and the trip to the falls took around thirty five minutes. Given the size of St Vincent the trip to the falls will be under an hour, wherever you manage to get the boat from.
Once moored up there is a properly constructed boardwalk along the rocky cliff and up to the falls. After hearing about the falls I built up an imaginary picture of a large cascading water fall plunging hundreds of feet plunging hundreds of feet into a large, and deep rock ...

The island of the rich and famous
Advantages: Gorgeous, quiet and un-touched beaches, some great properties Disadvantages: Very expensive, not much to do for the day tripper
Mustique is a 1,400 acre island located in the Southern Caribbean. This private island is owned and operated by the Mustique Company. This is an organisation which comprises of shareholders from 17 countries whose aim is to preserve the natural beauty and tranquility of the island.
We flew direct to Mustique from St Vincent and I understand there are flights from other East Caribbean Islands including St Lucia and Grenada. The airport in Mustique ... ...and helicopter. Our flight to Mustique was on a plane that could carry 7 passengers and during landing we nearly overshot the runway. Despite its size Mustique airport is very pretty, like all of the island as I was to find out during my visit.
The island comprises of several, very large and even more expensive, villas available to rent to tourists. Think of a Sandals resort and then give it a proper 5 star make over and you are getting somewhere ...

A Caribbean experience in St Vincent
Advantages: Cheap, gorgeous scenery, fantastic beaches, nice locals Disadvantages: Few resorts, you need to know a local
St. Vincent and the Grenadines (“SVG”) is located in the Windward Islands at the lower end of the Caribbean chain. SVG is situated between Grenada 75 miles to the south, St. Lucia 24 miles to the north and Barbados 150 miles to the east. SVG has a tropical climate that is influenced by the North East trade winds, resulting in a minimum temperature of around 28 degrees centigrade, and boy does it get hot in the summer months. St Vincent is often referred ... ...get on the island and do a bit of exploring it is easy to see why.
Tourism
Tourism obviously brings in money and this is something that the Government are actively trying to grow. Whilst there is some tourist activity in St Vincent, there is not that much compared to other Caribbean Islands. On one hand this is nice since a holiday on St Vincent is a real cultural experience and you do what the locals do, however, on the other hand it is stifling ...

If God had meant us to float...
Advantages: Scenery, beaches, people, coral reefs, boats, sea life Disadvantages: Expensive, not for people who don't like boats
I'll be honest, right from the start. Cards on the table, I'm a land dweller, I'm not sure we have any business mucking about on the ocean. My usual enquiry on boarding a water-borne vessel is, "When are we getting off?" However, as a child I fished in the English Channel from what I recall to be nothing more than a rowing boat, later, I ran booze across the same stretch of sea by ferry and hovercraft (these days I take the train), I sped along the ... ...I now understand may not have been entirely legal). I Ribbed for seven straight days in wild Scottish seas. Once, between Melbourne and Tasmania, I finally understood that saying about an even keel, as I watched an initially spotless and civilised passenger ferry fill steadily with vomit during a night crossing of the Bass Strait, retiring to bed as the afflicted huddled together in panic and desperation on the restaurant floor. For an hour or so ...
