Now not taking into account my 12hour journey on coach to the Hague, when we arrived at the Golden Tulip, for the price we had paid we were expecting a travel lodge of some kind, however much to our surprise the hotel looked very well presented with all glass windows at the front, looking into an exceptional reception area.
The reception had all marble floors, to the right of you you had a bar with a well spacious lounge area and to the right 4 lifts to all floors.
Considering there was a coach load of us, reception were very firendly and very quick in getting us all checked in and allocated to our rooms.
All the lifts worked to all floors and upon entering the room, it was very bright, spacious, with a king sized bed and everything that you required for your stay, hairdryer, television with sky, tea and coffe making facilities ...
Advantages: Everything you could need for a family holiday! Disadvantages: The public transport is overwhelming!

The bars and resturants were clean and bright and definately good value for money. was around £7 for a continental, coffee e.t.c. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Overall my stay was very pleasant, my double room was a little small but with modern power shower, warm and clean. Weekend rates I think are cheaper, I paid around £48 for a night.
The Hague in this area is all lit up in winter with lights on trees and the old buildings are stunning. Well worth a visit, very romantic!

There's a definite Old Dutch flavor to this wonderful, large, happy cafe-restaurant overlooking the city's old market square, yet its 1600s exterior cloaks a 1939 interior installed after a disastrous fire. In fact, the establishment's history dates back to 1423, when it was originally a tavern before being transformed in 1660 into a coffeehouse, and in 1939 into a cafe-restaurant. The wooden beams, brass chandeliers, and rustic chairs and tables blend harmoniously with the stained-glass windows, medieval banners, and wall murals. Some of the rooms that divide the interior are nonsmoking. There's a large sidewalk cafe on the "Green Market" square, pleasant on sunny days. An extensive menu covers everything from snacks to light lunches to full dinners. Look out for fine menu dishes like the guinea fowl with thyme sauce and the red perch with saffron sauce. This is a good place to drop by for a cocktail and snack, or for a beer or a coffee.
