Hi all, my real name is Julie, Im 26 years old and love humour. I hope this comes through in my writing style. I live in West yorkshire and my main hobies are camping, cycling, walking, music and film.
This is a wonderful low cost destination for families, couples, and groups, young and old. There is something for everyone. The facilities are outstanding and very undersold in the brochure. Star rating: 2+ (Should be at least 3). Cost: per person for 14 nights self-catering, roughly £500 in peak season! Facilities: If you have travelled to Greece before you will know that the facilities are usually more basic than in other regions of Europe, especially the self-catering studios and apartments. Not here at Stelios Stalis apartments. The facilities are excellent, the accommodation is well equipped, and includes microwave and air conditioning and telephone. The bathrooms are decorated and equipped to a high standard and include a bath and show. There is also a maid service every alternate day. The food here is not the best, but it is adequate, this is because it is a snack bar and not a restaurant. Listen out for the Greek special announced by the manager each day. Entertainment: The entertainment is great; there is something for young and old. During the day the manager of facility hosts a series of games, competitions and events for children and adults. They are usually based in the pool near the bar area, they are free and keep the kids entertained for several hours giving the parents some well earned time off. If this is not your scene, there is another pool to the rear of the facility, which gets all the sun in the afternoon when the games begin, it is usually very quiet round there, away from the bar, and an ideal resting place for anyone who likes to get away for a bit of piece and quiet. The evening entertainment is themed and changes daily, again its mainly hosted by the manager who is fun loving, and really knows how to include everyone in all his activities, there is Karaoke, Bingo, Greek Night, Quiz night to name but a few although alcoholic beverages are cheaper in the local towns. Surrounding area: The apartments are situated in between Stalis and Hersonissoss. Stalis is only a 10-minute walk away. The brochures state that Hersonissoss is only a 20-minute walk away, but I would suggest it is longer. There is a regular coach service every 20 minutes and it only cost £1 Euro to travel to Hersonissoss. Star beach is on the way to Hersonissoss, and is a great alternative to the main water park on the island. It is much smaller but still great fun and cheap. There is a ton there to entertain the family, or yourself whatever your age for a full day. Stalis is ideal for those who like an evening stroll on the beachfront, a nice Greek meal, and a quiet shop. All the bars are quaint and reasonably priced, offering a quiet and tranquil setting to sit until late in the evening and enjoy the tipple of your choice. Hersonissoss is much more up beat and young, there are lots of clubs and bars on the front, usually playing loud party music, or a live band. These bars don't tend to get busy till late evening and are open well in to morning. There are more places to eat here than in Stalis and more shops too. So if you stay in the Stelios Stalis Apartments, there is something for everyone, young, old, families, couples, the choice is yours. There is so much more to do and see here, there is a museum demonstrating Cretan history through the ages, Hersonissoss old town to name but two. I would recommend it to anyone, and the accommodation here at the Stelios Stalis is brilliant, service is second to non. I would recommend it to anyone, and we will defiantly travel there again soon

Have just come back from Stalis. Our original apartment at the Irini Studios was the worst I have ever seen so changed to the Irilana Much better. Andi

I missed that (as below!), but I am wondering what a "bath and show" is?

Advantages: Plenty of restaurants, good bus service, but still places to find peace and quite. Disadvantages: transfer from airport due to the amount of drop offs took 1.5 hours
