Well if you love nature then you'll love Stanly Park, situated about 5 - 10 min walk from downtown Vancouver this lovely and Free to enter park is full of great attractions.
The first thing is the sheer size of the park it's massive and has a small one way road that circles the outer edge of the park and goes through some VERY high tree lines allowing you and your friends to drive to a location park and just lay around sitting on the grass, catching one of the many performances going on or even just feeding the wildlife that comes around. The park itself is on the Burrard Inlet so you can just sit on a bench and watch the world go by as well as the boats and sea planes that cross the inlet itself. There are play areas, water parks, a 5 star restaurant at least 4 beaches everything you need to enjoy a beautiful Vancouver day.
Also inside the park is an aquarium full of sea and plant life this houses all types of wildlife which include beluga whales, sharks, seals, penguins the list is endless it also has a reptiles area which houses snakes, lizards, poison dart frogs EVERYTHING!!!. The aquarium is great for adults and children (my toddler LOVED it) as it gives you a great up close and personal look at all these different animals. The staff is great, giving presentations and information on all the animals in the aquarium and even bringing a few out for the general public to hold and feel (ever held a baby python odd aren't they)
And that's not all I know you're asking "well what else can there be….." well in addition to the actual park and the aquarium there is also a ZOO yes a zoo it's not jammed packed full of animals but there are enough to keep it interesting you can get a nice up close look of a polar bear (my favorite) and even some monkeys and other typical zoo animals.
The only disadvantage and really I'm just reaching for something here is that you do need to pay to enter the aquarium but that's it everything else in the park is free (except parking)

Advantages: Independent activity, stress free, shuttlebus (which we didn't use) Disadvantages: limited refreshments so bring your own picnic
...in Vancouver ended up in Stanley Park: visiting the Aquarium, walking around the harbour wall, sitting at Beaver Lake, or ambling the many footpaths. More a forest than a park, trees of majesty make one feel minuscule. Some of the park is off limits as work is done to manage the forest after the recent storms that destroyed a lot of it. My advice is to pick up a map from one of the kiosks at the edge of the park and read the signs for information ...

Advantages: Very beautifull, natural. Disadvantages: Be carefull of bicycle's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I suggest you start off by doing a loop around the park. You can either drive, or if you're feeling energetic, try walking. If speed is your thing, you can rent a bike or rollerblades at stores near Georgia and Denman Street. It's about six miles around (vehicular traffic flow is one way, and counter clockwise in direction). By circling the park you'll see many of the landmarks. Let me take you on a short tour. As you enter the park from Georgia ... ...It doesn't look like much unless the roses are in bloom. There is, however, a small playground tucked in behind it, as well as a dining pavilion. On the water side you'll see the beautiful English looking building that houses The Vancouver Rowing Club, and Coal Harbour, where you may be lucky enough to see a seaplane land. Going around the park by car is the method of choice if it is necessary to see the most with little time available, if mobility ...

Advantages: Pretty much perfection Disadvantages: Rains alot!
Surrounded by sandy beaches and snow-capped mountains, it?s very hard to beat Vancouver for sheer breathtaking beauty. Top that with numerous parks ? including the huge forest-filled StanleyPark, superb shopping, varied nightlife, cultural and sporting offerings, as well as bright modern architecture and it's pretty hard to avoid the cliche ?there?s no place quite like this?.
GENERAL FACTS
Canada is vast, stretching from the Atlantic to the Pacific. It is further from Vancouver in the West to Toronto in the East than it is from Toronto to London, a 7 ½ hour flight away. Canada?s landscapes actually exceed all expectations ? the Rocky mountains, rainforests, desert land, lakes, open grassland stretching as far as the eye can see, tundra, lush orchards, fjords and prairie wheat fields, Canada has them all and is completely ...

and easier to book “rent and flight” for the USA than for Canada. It is only half a day travel to Vancouver and Seattle is also a very interesting City.
We bought some food in one of the many supermarkets around Seattle and crossed the border to BC in the afternoon that was no problem.
In Vancouver we liked StanleyPark and the small pub quarter Gastown. This quarter is named after the English seaman "Gassie" Jack Deighton, who had opened there the first pub. A bronze memorial reminds of him; nearby you can watch a steam clock, that honked every quarter of an hour. More exotic was Chinatown, some minutes walk away. Modern architecture is exhibited at the Expo-area “Canada Place”. The best viewpoint to the skyline of Vancouver is at Lonsdale Quay at the opposite shore of “Canada Place” Take a ferry ...

displays, though expansion plans are underway once the destruction of StanleyPark is agreed upon. Out the front of the aquarium is Haida artist Bill Reid's killer whale sculpture, "Chief of the Undersea World", which was a gift to the aquarium in 1984. Makes a nice posing spot.
As you walk inside there's a photo stand set up, you know the kind. You pose against a blue background and they add your picture to a suitably fishy looking background and sell it to you at extreme rates. I think these ones go at two pictures for $14.
Beluga whales are undoubtedly the main attraction at Vancouver Aquarium. Its not just the absurdity of their names (go on say it, belloooooooga) its well, the absurdity of them. These odd lumpy creatures are an arctic whale and are quite possibly the most fascinating animals I have ever seen. Dolphin faced ...
