So they make their guests pay to get to the hotel....In my opinion, when you pay such high prices to stay somewhere nice, you would think the shuttle bus is part of the service! ...to the hotel only to find they CHARGE their own guests $40 per NIGHT to park at the hotel....yes the hotel that you are a guest at and have paid $300+ per NIGHT to stay at! For these prices, you would expect a really nice room, we stayed there for 4 nights so it wasn't cheap and to be honest, the room we had was no different from a Travelodge room..it was very ordinary! You soon realise that you are paying for the view and the proximity to the city. more

So we end up renting a car, we get to the hotel only to find they CHARGE their own guests $40 per NIGHT to park at the hotel....yes the hotel that you are a guest at and have paid $300+ per NIGHT to stay at! For these prices, you would expect a really nice room, we stayed there for 4 nights so it wasn't cheap and to be honest, the room we had was no different from a Travelodge room..it was very ordinary! You soon realise that you are paying for the view and the proximity to the city. The day after our arrival we decided to use the computer in the business centre of the hotel.....once again they CHARGE you to use it. $10 for half an hour, yet if you walk out the front door and across the main road, there is an internet cafe that charges £1.50 per half hour! I have stayed in a lot of top hotels around the world with my job, and I have never had to pay to use the business centre...not even in Manhattan, NYC. The good points about the hotel is obviously the view of the city, being in walking distance to Darling Harbour and the city and having the casino right there is also quite good as there are a few bars and even a nightclub. The breakfast was also quite nice but then for $39.95 it should be! Also I couldn't fault the hotel on it's cleanliness, it was spotless. I think this hotel is way too expensive and I wouldn't really recommend it, I don't plan on staying there again any time soon.
The Travelodge Sydney is one of the best value 3 starhotels in SydneyCity Centre.
Location
This hotel is perfectly located a stones throw away from the action; a mere block away from Oxford St where you will find funky cafes, restaurants, Sydney's best choice of late bars for the clubbers among you and great shopping.
Other nearby attractions
Pitt Street Mall which is renowned for its shopping is less than a kilometre away as is Darling Harbour, the rocks, the opera house and the harbour bridge. SydneyCity Centre isn't really that big so you can get to any of these plus other major attractions by foot although the hotel reception was always happy to book us taxis when we went out at night (and all the cab drivers knew where the hotel was when we were trying to find our way back there after a night out on the champas ...
Advantages: Food was excellent, great city views and well-equipped gym Disadvantages: Casino a bit drab, but is being upgraded.
This review for Ciao describes my stay (during August 2008) at the glittering StarCity Casino Hotel, located in Pyrmont, an inner city suburb of Sydney Australia.
Previous reviews of this hotel have only really described the casino area, but you can have a great time staying here even if you aren't into gambling, because there's lots of places to eat and things to see and do.
Also I took a few photos at the hotel, and readers may be interested in these.
Good points were as follows. Excellent proximity to the downtown area. It was easy to get to most of Sydney's attractions from here. For example there is a monorail which runs very near to the hotel, and this got me in no time to shopping areas downtown. This facility runs every two or three minutes. However, it's a pleasant 15 min walk if you prefer walking and there's lots ...
