I went to Sydney a couple of months ago and thought I would splash out and stay at StarCity.....which is right in the heart of Darling Harbour in the city.
After arriving at the airport we had our first bad experience in that they make you PAY for the airport Shuttle bus...not just any shuttle bus, the actual starcity one! So they make their guests pay to get to the hotel....In my opinion, when you pay such high prices to stay somewhere nice, you would think the shuttle bus is part of the service!
So we end up renting a car, we get to the hotel only to find they CHARGE their own guests $40 per NIGHT to park at the hotel....yes the hotel that you are a guest at and have paid $300+ per NIGHT to stay at! For these prices, you would expect a really nice room, we stayed there for 4 nights so it wasn't cheap and to be honest, the room we ...

Estella HotelApartments is based in Limassol in Southern Cyprus where I stayed for 6 nights in late April/early May of 2009 with my cousin. The booking was made via Expedia.co.uk and worked out at approximately £200 for 2 of us sharing a twin apartment (just £100 each basically). Before I confirmed the booking through Expedia I went off and did a bit of research on the hotel to make sure I wasn?t getting something that was cockroach infested.
The hotel?s website, although fairly basic in appearance, made the hotel look pleasant enough and I sent an email to the hotel asking what amenities were included in the rooms/apartments. This review for Ciao describes my stay (during August 2008) at the glittering StarCity Casino Hotel, located in Pyrmont, an inner city suburb of Sydney Australia.
Previous reviews of this hotel have only really described the casino area, but you can have a great time staying here even if you aren't into gambling, because there's lots of places to eat and things to see and do.
Also I took a few photos at the hotel, and readers may be interested in these.
Good points were as follows. Excellent proximity to the downtown area. It was easy to get to most of Sydney's attractions from here. For example there is a monorail which runs very near to the hotel, and this got me in no time to shopping areas downtown. This facility runs every two or three minutes.
