After convincing my boyfriend that we should go to paris for our summer holidays it was up to me to choose the hotel. As we had never been to paris before i had no idea which hotel to choose. After having looked at many websites i decided to opt for the star etoile hotel as it was in our budget and was very central.
We booked our holiday from the 23-29th of july and it cost us 109 euros per nite for a double room. we decided not to get the buffet breakfast as this would cost us an extra 13 euros each per day and we had read reviews that there was plenty of cheap places to eat near the hotel.
When we arrived at paris the hotel is a bus ride from the charles de gaulle airport and costs 13 euros per person and takes about 1hour. the bus dropped us off near the arc de triomphe and from here the hotel is a short walk.
we arrived at the hotel and the staff were very friendly we checked in then went to our room. the hotel lift is very small just big enough for two people and their cases as long as they arent big cases. our room was a decent size and had a mini bar, tv , telephone and it had a safe which you had to ask at reception for the key. the bathroom was quite small and the bath was very small but it met our needs. the room was cleaned everyday and they gave you more soap, shampoo and shower gel in your bathroom.
I was quite disappointed when i arrived at the hotel because when i got to my room it was very noisy and i realised that there was workmen workin in the rooms below me as they are busy renivating the hotel. This had never been mentioned when i booked the hotel. However the men only worked from 9 until 5pm which suited me and my boyfriend as we would be out most of the day.
The hotel was lovely and central as it is just a short walk from the arc de triomphe and champs elysee. which was great for me as it ment i could walk to the shops. also there was plenty of places to eat near the hotel so we were spoilt for choice.
The hotel staff were generally very friendly and helpful. Although i did forget my adapter and the hotel did not have one i could borrow so i asked at reception where i could buy one and they told me i would be unable to get one nearby. However i found this hard to believe so i asked at the local shop round the corner where i often went for snacks as it was open until midnight. The lady in the shop said that i would be able to buy an adapter at a shop 5 mins walk from my hotel. I was quite disappointed that the hotel staff did not know this as i felt they should have known that.
Overall i had a great time at this hotel and found that it was good value for money and was very central. I would like to go back to this hotel when it is finished being renovated as i had a look round and the rooms that have all ready been decorated look very nice and more modern than the room i had.

Was there another way to get to the hotel? I'm looking for a good hotel in Paris to surprise my husband but time is short there and I don't want to spend an hour on a bus!
