The Hilton without a chihuauhua or a range of perfumes

Advantages: Good rail connections, good for the Excel or London City Airport, but not too remote for the city
Disadvantages: It's expensive but by London terms, you get a lot for your money.

check out the Hilton in Canary Wharf. Canary Wharf Canary Wharf is not like 'real' London so if you are looking for the old world charms of the city and your mental image is based on scenes from Mary Poppins and Oliver Twist, don't go to Canary Wharf. This is London's area of ultra-modern high-rise living and working, built on what were once rough areas of the docklands that were so unattractive that I'm sure I once read that Stanley Kubrick used some of the derelict areas in the nearby Isle of Dogs as sets in one of his Vietnam films. Today Canary Wharf is all shiny glass, metal and concrete with one of the most spectacular Underground stations in London. FInding the darned place I thought it would be easy to find. It's called Hilton Canary Wharf so I'd go to Canary Wharf station, step out of the station, look up and spot ...

Starbucks in St Katharine's Dock London

Advantages: Great views, great atmosphere, great coffee
Disadvantages: A bit expensive

Everybody knows Starbucks, the largest coffee house in the world. I am going to review the one in St Katharine's Dock in London as this is my nearest and dearest. I think Starbucks is rather like marmite, you either love it or you hate it. Some people hate the fact that they have to pay Ģ3 for a cup of coffee, other people can't get enough. I am definitely in the second camp, I am a Starbucks fan. I think what has captured the world is their relationship with coffee, they like to think of their stores as a "third place", ie the third place you go in this world after home and work and I think it is this attitude that produces the friendly asmosphere and sense of belonging that their houses promote. The store in St Katharine's dock is a beautiful building, it is a round, almost mill looking type building with a dome on top and has ...

Review of Starbucks (London)

Not worth the 5 but a GOOD 4 star property. Marriott Canary Wharf

Advantages: Good location. Reputable brand. Delivers a good hotel experience
Disadvantages: Could be better. Needs to look to wow the customer.

address and credit card details and voila, the room was secured. Job done until my trip. Arrival The hotel is based in the Canary Wharf heartland at West India Quay, lying in the shadows of one Canada square, possibly Canary Wharf?s most recognisable building. The hotel is easily reached from the Canary Wharf underground station or the West India Quay DLR. The road network is also good, particularly from the M25 and M11 straight into east London. I took the tube and before I knew it I was at canary wharf. I then walked over to the hotel, easily found as it towers high above the quayside with a huge Marriott sign. You know you have arrived. Check In As you enter the contemporary lobby there is a small set of stairs up to the main reception. After I had approached the desk I was greeted by a polite receptionist who took my details ...
