...you can also find lots of African ingredients that you won’t find anywhere else.
You could also find some typically African restaurants, but I never try one of those.
Next to the Gare Montparnasse you could find a typically Breton neighbourhood as when Bretons came to Paris to work they arrive at that Station and historically settled next to it. This neighbourhood is located in the 14th district. You could find in here fishmongers and pancakes bars, typical from Brittany.
One of my favourite neighbourhoods is the Jewish one. It’s a great place really pleasant to walk in you can find in there typical restaurants and shops. It’s located next to the rue de Rivoli in the third district. The best streets to stroll are the Rue des Rosiers and la rue du Roi de Sicile.

My ratings:
Food 5/10
Staff friendliness 9/10
Cleanliness of hotel 10/10

I love Le Grand Colbert, near my usual hotel on rue Vivienne, 75002 (see Hotel Vivienne £50 a night double room - plug!). It's one of the few remaining Parisienne brasseries with art deco interior and the most astounding seafood platters imaginable. Their puddings are to die for!
My main tip for seeing Paris is to restrain yourself from checking maps and guidebooks constantly, don't be afraid of getting lost - the Parisians are friendly, despite what people say!
Buying a 'carnet' of 10 metro tickets will save you from running out and a few pennies too. Have your own tube map and watch yourself late at night in the stations - don't be silly about your...
