Starbucks in St Katharine's Dock London

Advantages: Great views, great atmosphere, great coffee
Disadvantages: A bit expensive

Everybody knows Starbucks, the largest coffee house in the world. I am going to review the one in St Katharine's Dock in London as this is my nearest and dearest. I think Starbucks is rather like marmite, you either love it or you hate it. Some people hate the fact that they have to pay £3 for a cup of coffee, other people can't get enough. I am definitely in the second camp, I am a Starbucks fan. I think what has captured the world is their relationship with coffee, they like to think of their stores as a "third place", ie the third place you go in this world after home and work and I think it is this attitude that produces the friendly asmosphere and sense of belonging that their houses promote. The store in St Katharine's dock is a beautiful building, it is a round, almost mill looking type building with a dome on top and has ...

Starbucks - Not A high star rating

Advantages: Competitive priced Coffee
Disadvantages: Taste and Priced not as good as Caffee Nero

Starbucks is a well known, almost global coffee brand. This chain of coffee shops are fully company owned. The price of coffee per metric tonne is approximately £883 a tonne. So for coffee shop stores there is a very high profit margin to be made. I was travelling on my way to Crawley and as i was in London Victoria i noticed a burger type van advertising Starbucks. I thought to myself i have been to Starbucks before lets see how they fare. Firstly i was not impressed with the service here. There were 2 staff in the van, no customers in the queue, and dispite this it took me 2 minutes to get served. I noticed the bin they were using was full up with some plastic rubbish. Certainly not inviting for regular customers or great first impressions here. The display of my coffee money was in a take away Starbucks plastic cup ...

Stay at the White House - the London White House

Advantages: Good value, immaculate, 4 Star
Disadvantages: Language problems

I stayed at the Melia White House hotel in June 2008, on my first trip to London. Finding our way from Heathrow T5 to the hotel, negotiating the underground, was surprisingly easy, as the hotel is situated within 5 minutes walk of Great Portland St underground station, just outside leafy Regents Park. Warren St and Regents Park underground stations are also within 10 minutes walk in either direction. The hotel may not look a lot from the exterior, however step inside and the reception is bright, airy and spacious. The reception area is immaculate and covered in marble, and expensive looking antiques. The hotel has 581 rooms over 8 floors (283 Classic rooms, 158 Superior rooms, 28 Triple rooms, 62 Executive Level rooms, 42 Junior Suites, 2 Master Suites, 1 Residential Suite and 5 Disabled rooms). We were booked into a Classic ...
