La Sainte-Chapelle
A jewel of gothic architecture, the Sainte-Chapelle was built in the thirteenth century by order of Saint-Louis to contain the crown of thorns. The high chapel with its 600 sq. metres of windows, 2/3 of which are authentic, offer one of the most complete sets of stained glass window from this era. It’s ceiling is covered with magnificent paintings. Classical concerts are sometimes given in here and it always tremendous to listen to.

L’arc de triomphe
I haven’ t ever visited it, so I made some research to tell you more about it

Advantages: Lots to see and do, the metro, Disadvantages: Eating out can be expensive, everyone else is there too (everyone loves Paris)

Once home of the infamous prison that sparked the revolution in 1789…today there is nothing left of the prison. There is just a column in the middle of the intersection know as "Colonne de Juillet".
The white church on the hill - Sacré-Coeur
The Sacré-Coeur basilica is located in the Montmatre area and it is a great place to visit on a nice clear day. The church is located on a hill and the view from this point is spectacular. According to the guidebook the top of the church is in fact the second highest point in Paris after the Eiffel tower. We took the metro up to the area and it is a bit of a strange area. When we went to Paris the last time we stayed a night in the Pigalle area and it is not the best neighborhood...

Advantages: Lots to see in a weekend Disadvantages: Difficult for vegetarians
...is approximately 20 mins. The rest of the time is spent looking at the country side.
If you were to come by plane, you would probably arrive at the Charles de Gaulle airport, and then would travel by 'route B' suburban railway (RER) which takes you all the way through Paris so makes transfer onto a metro line for your hotel very easy.
**** Gare du Nord and the Metropolitain (Metro) ****
The Eurostar arrives into the heart of Paris at the Gare du Nord, having taken the traveller through the suburbs which at times look very run down. Suburban individual housing is left behind and the sky line is taken over with tenement blocks and graffiti.
(Note: On my journey home, I was reminded of an exhibition in the Pompidou Centre which I had seen earlier in the day where there were 'Architecture de l'Aujourd hui' journals on view with late 1940's...

This is one of a series of ops about the Parisian holiday of Mortimus and I; our first together, and his first foreign holiday. This is only my second op so please go easy on me :-)
So there we were, just stepped off the Metro at Pigalle, the station... more
I truly thought i knew everything about classic French perfumes and the established French design and perfume houses. The names Chanel, Dior, Givenchy, and Guerlain et al roll off my lips as easily and lovingly as Al Pacino, Robert de Nero and Edward... more
