I didn't know if I wanted to review Starbucks, after all its not my favourite coffee house, but while I was deciding I walked past the latest one , in St Martins Lane in the heart of London's theatreland. This used to be a mavellous emporium, selling fabulous gowns for very special occasions, and the new Starbucks retains the spaciousbness and lovely wood -panelled walls of the old establishment. quite a contrast from the other Starbucks I've been in: Baker street and Bayswater are both pretty pokey. the ones in Borders bookshops tend to have more space, but are souless and grubby and I hate Borders anyway. The Carnaby Street branch looks OK.
All coffee shops come up with the staple coffees, latte, capuchino, black and white, so why go to Starbucks? It is more expensive than Caffe Nero and McDonalds but less so than Costa. It doesn't put out drinking water like Caffe Nero. It doesn't provide internet access like like Coffee Republic and McDonalds and if you want to read the paper you have to buy it. It does provide more expensive sticky pastries than the others, if that's your bag. And the other thing is sprinkles, vanilla, cinnamon , chocolate, etc., but why would you want to ruin a cup of coffee with those? The staff are friendly but obviously run off their feet .
So what's wonderful about Starbucks? Take home a pack of the special after coffee chewing gum. It copmes in the niftiest little hinged, lidded tin. Sugar free and cool as you like.
The other thing is the special Fairtrade Estima coffee. however you feel about Fairtrade (I say the jury's out), this smoky dark textured brew is to die for.

Not a big fan of Starbucks, probably because I don't really drink hot drinks! Haha xxx

hi there. sorry for the low rating but there was not a lot of your own opinion in there apart from comparison to other coffee establishments. What are their prices like, etc. You may find it helpful to read other (and possibly longer!) reviews to see what reviews get the higher ratings. If you do edit this review, please let me know and I will gladly re-rate it for you.

Advantages: Brilliant location, modern rooms, clean and friendly. Disadvantages: None I can really think of, if I had to mention something it'd be the pricey internet.
