Ok so Starbucks may have re-invented the coffee bar, but that's no justification for its exorbitant prices. Their coffee is weak and the sandwiches and pastries are awful.
When you consider the competition they have now, like Coffee Republic (the best), to Caffe Nero (great coffee and great toasted sandwiches) and Costa Coffee to name but a few, I don't understand how Starbucks manages to sucker so many people.
I would far rather walk a few hundred yards for a decent coffee at a more reasonable price than walk into a starbucks which really has nothing to offer that their competitors don't do better.
As a smoker I like to have a fag with my coffee and all of the bars I've mentioned permit smoking - except Starbucks. Maybe their prices are higher because people want to pay for a smoke free environment? Even if I didn't smoke I still like a more personal, friendly service and that's what I experience in all the coffee bars - except starsucks

Advantages: Brilliant location, modern rooms, clean and friendly. Disadvantages: None I can really think of, if I had to mention something it'd be the pricey internet.
