Advantages: very american, nice atmosphere, great coffee Disadvantages: prices are high
I've always preferred drinking Coffee to Tea and now with the re-emergence of the Coffee Bar, I can indulge myself with a REALLY Good cup in pleasant surroundings.
Now that the Chain coffee houses have arrived on our shores and in our town and cities, my choice is always Starbucks. Not only does it feel quintissentially American, but the coffee tastes just as good as if you were drinking it in L.A, New York, Chicago or wherever. I ... ...in a Starbucks in L.A and Chicago (does O'Hare Airport departure lounge count?)
OK I know it costs a little more than going into Littlewoods or Marks and Spencers or even - god forbid - that grimy cafe round the corner - but the pleasant surroundings the aroma of just exotic coffee, can make you dream your are not actually sitting in the middle of Milton Ketnes shopping centre!

Not only does it feel quintissentially American, but the coffee tastes just as good as if you were drinking it in L.A, New York, Chicago or wherever. I can say that pretty much from first hand, having sat in a Starbucks in L.A and Chicago (does O'Hare Airport departure lounge count?)

I like a nice cup of Latte or Cappuchino, nothing too exotic, but I'd try something new if they have special offers. I know when we came back from L.A last year, we brought back a couple of Starbucks coffee mugs - The traditional green logo emblazoned on them and it made me feel a bit special, lazily drinking out of it at home.
It came as a surprise to realise that Starbucks have infiltrated our cities, but more of one when I stumbled across one in Cambridge, then Peterborough and Milton Keynes. They have that certain cache, that many american brands have - and hey so what if it cost £2 a cup.
I can sit in a Starbucks and think I'm over there...dream my break away. The snap out of it girl - get back to work! But it's great while it lasts.
