Advantages: Great underground and weather Disadvantages: Too much to see in a short time
...I have visited Barcelona on numerous occasions and absolutely love it, so trying to be non-bias on a review there is difficult to say the least, but here goes anyway...
The size of Barcelona isn't that daunting if you imagine an area from The World trade Centre on the waterfront to Gaudi's Segrada Familia but there is so much to see and do within the area that you'll never see it all unless you plan and use the excellent services available.
The easiest and fastest way to get around in the city is public transport. Barcelona has over 100 bus lines and over 1000 buses covering over 120,000 kilometres every day. The metro underground system has over 500 vehicles which cover the 123 stations on the 90 kilometre network. More info and planning can be done by visiting their website on www.tmb.net. Advantages: Good starting point for visits Disadvantages: Not especially important place
...The Spain's Square (Plaça d'Espanya in catalan) was built in 1929, the year of the Universal Exhibition held in Barcelona.
It is a quiet big round square with a large fountain, ornamented with sculptures in marble and bronze, designed by a collaborator of the famous Antoni Gaudí.

The project was completed with cascades and smaller fountains...

Advantages: an unforgettable experience Disadvantages: no disadvantages

The Catalan language is somehow similar to French, that is, if you can speak both French and Spanish, with a little bit of luck you can understand whatever they say. And most everyone speaks some English.
You fall in love with the architecture at once. Go on an excursion in a tourist bus to get a general view and a first impression. The quarter I prefer is the gothic Old Town, or La CiutatVella, situated on both sides of the famous promenade, Las Ramblas, which starts next to the Metro Station Plaça Catalunya and takes you to the port.
If I described all the corners of Barcelona that are dear to me, it would take an hour to read it, which is far too long for what is supposed...
