...We had a camping holiday in Ribes de Freser in Catalonia at the base of the Spanish Pyrenees. I have wanted to visit Barcelona for several years and since the town we were in was on a direct rail route to Barcelona we decided to take a day of from walking the mountains and visit. The Train took us about 2 hours to get to Barcelona where we decided to visit the Sagrada Familia. The Sagrada Familia is a Roman Catholic temple dedicated to the holy family, not a cathedral but it is very cathedral like. The Associació Espiritual de Devots de Sant Josep promoted the building of this temple followers bought a large piece of land and on St Joseph's day in 1882 the first stone was laid. Advantages: very close to the center no entrance fee
Disadvantages: small

...Small very atmospheric bar ala club style very close to the Ramblas in the center of the city. It is near placa Catalunya in the center of town. Excellent mix of different sorts of music and dj's: check their site for exact programming or flyers. Very good example of a central small venue for 25-40 year olds in this beautiful city in Spain. Club where you can still easily talk with your friend and enjoy the music on a small dance floor. 2 spaces a red lit bar area, where it is nice to chat and hang out and a also a small dance room with projectors. Advantages: Comfortable, good location for business and transport
Disadvantages: Long walk to main tourist area

...I stayed in this hotel several times in 2004/5 and found it to be an excellent base for business. (I was working in a nearby office). It is also very well placed for transport - as follows:- Taxis always outside, airport about 25 Euros (20 minutes), city centre about 10 Euros (5 minutes), Sants station 200 metres walk - this has an easy ticket machine system to buy tickets for the airport - about 10 Euros, and city centre on the underground train, about 5 Euros. It's possible to walk to the tourist centre, (Place de Catalunya) but this takes around 30 mins and needs careful scrutiny of a map to avoid taking the wrong turning at one of the many intersections. Hotel is smart and well furnished in the modern Barcelona minimalist style. Reception staff speak good English and are very helpful. Bedroom is comfortable and usually quiet... Read review
