...We found the Plaza Hostal, c/Fontanella, in the Rough Guide.It's such value for money and in such a great location, round the corner from the Place de Catalunya, we've stayed there 4 times and reccommended it to innumerable friends. Last year it was approx.£32 per en-suite room. Easy access to the Ramblas and the old town.The bus from the airport stops in the Place de Catalunya and from there I reckon it's about 200 yards walk to the hotel.You can book via e-mail, which is a great help.The owners are south american and speak a little english.... ...Hotel Continental is located on the ramblas. See if you can get a room that has a balcony facing on the ramblas. The ramblas comes alive from around 6/7pm at night and is a fantastic site to see. The hotel itself is a really nice hotel. The rooms are of a generous size and are decorated in a homely style. The beds were comfortable, the room was very clean and the patio doors shut out the sound of the ramblas very well. It is a great base for you to discover Barcelona which is a beautiful city with much to see and do. It is situated perfectly for shopping, for the bus tours, you must do this, for the beach at the end of the ramblas and the port itself. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
