Nothing is quite as nice as waking up in a foreign town that you have no real wish to be in to then find that just outside your hotel is a branch of starbucks.

'will you be having breakfast this morning sir?' enquires the friendly concierge 'Thankyou but no'.

Why have breakfast in a hotel when you can, by foot, get to the best coffee house that America has ever given us ... Starbucks.

Starting the morning with a tall double latte and a douple helping of croissant, may seem quite the continental thing to do but let me assure you it sets you up for an extremley productive day in business.

Ok the facts!

Starbuck coffee houses are mostly airconditioned premises which recently has been an incredible bonus. The beverage menu ranges from several permitations of expresso presentation such as Latte, cappuccino and choclate mocha to the cooler frappuccino which I personally liken to a slush puppie with class. The range caters for most tastes and are all option of take in or take out.

There is usually a good selection of cakes and pastries and prepared sandwiches, but let me stress my recommendation is not on the food as most of it is purley meant to compliment your wet purchase.

Seating is usually a selection of comfy sofas and chairs and music varies from house to house but remains unintrusive.

Consistency is, in my mind, starbucks success although others may argue that agressive opening strategies are more to credit. If I can walk in to a coffee house in London and get the same good coffee as I do in Glasgow, manchester, bath, strattford and many others then I'm a happy man.

Go there at lesuire on sundays and sit or rush in on your way to work ... the coffee works and it's great. Keep it up you wonderfull people.
