Inverness is in fact the fastest growing city in europe and is still nicknamed Tesco town by the locals. Due to Tesco holding the largest number of stores in the city boundaries. The largest one being at the inverness business and retail park which is open 24/7 so shopping for random bits n pieces is never an issue. the rest of the retail park consists of boots, a multiplex vue cinema (7 screens i think) pizza hut, burger king, jjb gym and store, homebase, argos, next, borders, maplin, mothercare, pets at home, petrol station, squillions of parking spaces, starbucks and probably a few others i have forgotten.
The city centre itself is on the small side with a park and stride system rather than park and ride (its that small) the eastgate centre is the main shopping arena/mall and offers a wide selection of shops from most phone networks...

Advantages: Its a small place, trains are cheap Disadvantages: Buses are expensive

Scotrail are usually good on prices and if you want to visit towns near Inverness like Dingwall, Lairg...

Years ago Inverness was probably a remote place and in the wilderness a bit. Nowadays it's different. There are over 60,000 people living here, and it has been classed as one of the fastest growing places in Britain. There are good rail, bus and plane networks. The airport is small but there are daily flights to and from London, Birmingham and other British cities, as well as flights going to and from some foreign countries.
In Inverness itself there are many restaurants - one of which was featured on a Gordon Ramsay show last year. There are a variety of restaurants here - Italian, Chinese, Indian, as well as British food. There are also a number of hotels.
There are a wide range of shops in Inverness - when I was young the nearest M...
