Whenever the cheap flights were introduced a couple of years ago, I jumped at the chance of a weekend's shopping in Edinburgh, and this was the hotel I had chosen to stay in, as from the website I apparently booked it through, it sounded really nice..
Appearances can be deceiving....
The hotel is situated in the Tollcross area of the city, close to Haymarket station. It stattes that it is s short walk from Princes street, and was aprox a 20 minute walk from the main shopping area of the city. The hotel is situated in a row of old buildings, which are mainly residential, and the entrance of the hotel is right on the footpath.
My first problem with the hotel was that whenever I booked this online, I received no confirmation. I later found out that the hotel at that time couldn't accept online bookings as they were havinfg ...

Hat es einem die Sprache verschlagen, hat die Katze die Zunge geklaut: „cat got your tongue", aber während wir auf heißen Kohlen sitzen, schleicht die Katze statt unsereiner über sie „like a cat on hot bricks" oder über‘s heiße Blechdach: „like a cat on a hot tin roof".
Wo es bei uns Bindfäden regnet, regnet es in England Hunde und Katzen „it‘s raining cats and dogs" und ich muß gestehen, das wäre mir gar nicht recht. Auch die Redewendung „there‘s more then one way to skin a cat" (wörtl. übers. es gibt mehr als einen Weg, der Katze das Fell über die Ohren zu ziehen ...
