Advantages: amazing show, great city, holiday atmosphere Disadvantages: rainy but noones fault
...New York was where I spent my first and last thanksgiving and where I was also celebrating my 21 st birthday on the same day. The biggest problem with the parade is that it was a very rainy day and the streets were full of people messing around with umbrellas and children crying. However, the parade itself was fantastic with giant inflatable cartoon characters and floats and music. This sort of parade puts any other parade I've seen to shame in terms of scope and size and crowds drawn. Manhattan is very different on Thanksgiving day in that a lot of streets are empty and there are a lot of people on only a few streets and the whole place is very quiet in comparison to the day before or after. The spectacle was worth coming to see and as Christmas shoopping really starts the following day it is worth coming to the parade, spednign...

Advantages: Less people in bad weather, GO to the parade, even in rain Disadvantages: CROWDS, and hardly any view if you arrive after NINE AM
...Here's a review of an attempt to see the Thanksgiving dayparade in New York City, (year 2006) .

2. Bring your own snacks and drinks because once you are in your SPACE at the parade, you won't get to leave there until the parade is over. You are literally LOCKED into your space because people are shoulder to shoulder behind the blue police lines (blue wooden barracades).
3. Try not to let the little children...

...St Patricks Day, 2000. The fun was never ending. Do go if you get the chance. We went and stayed in Temple Bar, flew with Ryan Air for £25 + Taxes and had a ball.
St Paddy's Day is the time to visit as everyone is in a carnival mood. There are parades and fireworks and smiles on the faces everywhere. The bars and pubs serve great Guinness - we found O'Neills to be the best - just around the corner from Molly Malone's Statue, near the Tourist Information centre in the Church.
A great time was had by all. Well worth a visit - do go!...

I can remember about ten years ago collecting "Neighbours" stickers in the playground and Beth Brennan, aka Natalie Imbruglia, being seriously hot property. Whilst us girls were keen to add any character, even the likes of Harold and Lou, to our precious more
