LOKAL Restaurant Bar

Advantages: Trendy, hip and happening place with excellent food and sounds
Disadvantages: not the most central location

My visits to the Lokal Restaurant Bar have been memorable for a number of reasons. The style of the establishment is modern cafe bar, serving excellent european cuisine, together with a wide range drinks and cocktails. Music is played live by local DJs in the bar area, whilst the restaurant part has a more relaxed ambience. Enjoyable and excellent value

Advantages: Nice food, wine and beer at reasonable prices
Disadvantages: None

Slingerbulten can be found on the corner of Stora Nygaten and Kakbrinken on Gamla Stan. It is a fairly small but airy and light place, tastefully decorated. It is slightly off the main tourist streets, but it can still be busy in the evenings, and many of the patrons are local people. There is quite a varied menu including Swedish favourites such as reindeer and salmon, together with other ingredients such as chicken or pasta. The food is nicely ...
...and appetites. Prices are very reasonable on both the menu and wine list - there is a blackboard over the bar for specials. You can also choose beer, including some from small local breweries. It would be hard to find such good value in London. Service is very friendly but can be a bit slow when they are busy. Nice treat

Advantages: Atmosphere, food.
Disadvantages: Price, touristy.

Fem Sma Hus (five little houses)is located in Gamla Stan on Nygrand, a narrow alley just off Skeppsbron. It occupies a series of arched brick cellars which get lower and more atmospheric as you go deeper - some are well below water level. The restaurant is very popular, especially with tourists, and it is pretty essential to book - even then, you may have to queue for a short time. ...to the deeper, more romantic rooms. The food is traditional Swedish, with dishes such as Gravadlax and reindeer, in reasonable-sized portions. Wines are available at prices to suit most pockets, as well as a good selection of aquavit. This Bar will welcome you!!

Advantages: Very Friendly and Funky Bar with attitude!
Disadvantages: Not enough Bars near by to support it.

...for the 7-11, then the Soap Bar catches our eye. Located in an ideal location very close to the Grand Hotel, and the waterside, and next door to the 7-11 for after drinks snacking!!
