Advantages: Lots of lovely museums, pretty trees, beautiful islands and buildings
Disadvantages: Expense of food and alcohol

...in the Royal Armoury in Stockholm until January, which I was keen to see. Disadvantages: A litle pricey

I went to Stockholm in the last weekend of January 2005, here are my thoughts. We arrived at the main Arlanda airport which is modern, clean and eerily quiet and sailed through passport control. Within 15 minutes of landing we'd picked up our bags and were waiting for the Arlanda express into the city. At £15, this train is pricey but it's about the same as the Heathrow express. You can take a bus at half the price and twice the time or take a taxi ...
...50% of shops in Stockholm are designer homeware places, then the other 50% are cafes. And in Gamla Stan, that's got to be more like 80%. The best one we found was the Konditorai that is reputedly the oldest in the city and is found in the little square at the bottom of Vasterlanggattan. ...the places I've been to, Stockholm is the nicest yet. Everything looks beautiful. Even the Grafitti has a nice edge to it (i dunno how!) I flew to Stockholm with Ryanair. Ryanair must like Stockholm because there are two airports tochoose from. Vasteras to the west ar Skvasta to the south. We flew to Vasteras. The airport is nice, small (like all the ryanair ones) but modern and nicer than hectic London ones or other major international airports. ...
...that the train journey to Stockholm is very cheap and very stunning. You glide through forests and over lakes in the modern sleek trains. Well worth flying out to Vasteras. Swedish trains are amazing. The train was schedules to arrive at 12:53, and we arrived at Stockholm at 12:53. Stunning compared to the UK. This was not a one off either. Advantages: City with nature and water nearby
Disadvantages: Expensive

...raised in a suburb to Stockholm but now I live in Gothenburg. This is my to-do’s and not to-do’s on Stockholm. So, we do not have ice bears walking down the street. We don’t dance around in folk-costumes, tap-dancing with clogs. We’re not all blond and blue-eyed. In fact, Stockholm has grown up into any western world city at all. We have big shopping streets, Mc Donald’s in every corner, museums and suburb after suburb. So, there’s much to see - ...
...in the actual city of Stockholm just catch the tube and go to “Centralen”. All tube-lines pass here so you cannot miss it. Make sure to follow signs towards “Sergels torg” or you will end up at our domestic train-station (nothing wrong with that, but it isn’t where you were going). Stockholm – Venice of the North. Hang on I thought that was Bruges, no Amsterdam? How many are there? Whatever it is, it’s great. I’ve recently returned from Stockholm after a very enjoyable three-night break. All right, so it’s freezing outside. Wear a scarf, hat, gloves and a warm coat and you’re over that problem. ...didn’t use public transport. However, Stockholm seems to have a very complete transport system. It has a tube system, buses, trams, boats and taxis. The only time we did use the train was when we caught the dedicated train from the airport to the centre. 20 minutes each way, directly from under the airport, £20 return. What a great service.
