Advantages Advantages Wonderful, vibrant city with a lot to offer, summer or winter!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Very few, possibly difficult to get the most out of for a first time visit?

So far, I've visited Stockholm twice, once in the snowy depths of February, and in the exquisite summer of July. The main thing to say is, I can't wait to go back! I'm fortunate enough to have a good friend who's lived all her life in the city, and both times I've stayed with her, in her family home around an hour from the main city centre, and in an apartment in the heart of the city, and both experiences have been wonderful. I grew up in London so I perhaps have a certain arrogance to European cities, but I also found myself utterly comfortable in Stockholm in moments, despite speaking ... more

Advantages Advantages 'Pre-parties', 'Norrlands Guld' and superb transport links.

Disadvantages Disadvantages High alcohol prices, weak beer and strict bouncers.

Overview… I was recently invited to visit a friend in Stockholm, who claimed to be 'researching' land-use in the city as part of his final year dissertation. As you can imagine, this turned out to be more of a cultural drinking experience, rather than visiting Stockholm as a tourist! For those of you who are that way inclined, here follows my experience of Stockholm through the eyes of a pint glass. Stockholm - A Brief Introduction… Stockholm is the capital of Sweden, and also considered to be the capital of Scandinavia. The city was built in the 13th century around Lake Mälaren, allowing the ... more

Advantages Advantages Beautiful City, easy to get around, most people speak English

Disadvantages Disadvantages can be rather expensive

I lived in Stockholm for 2 1/2 years, and although I am English, my family and I found living there a lot easier than other foreign countries which have been graced by us. If you plan to go on Holiday in Stockholm, then I can say, wise choice! Its a beautiful city with a lot of culture. But there are perhaps a few useful points that would be helpful to know, from my knowledge of living there. Firstly, take a lot of money. The currency is Swedish Kroner, and things are expensive in Stockholm, compared to countries such as England or the USA. There are a wide range of hotels to stay in. Such as ... more

IF you are in Stockholm for shopping, you HAVE to go to NK department store. THis is the equivalent of Harrods in London. The store is packed with all the Swedish designer clothes and I found when they are on sale the brand 'Miu Miu' and 'Prada' are cheaper than in England Also H & M the high street chain store are much bigger and cheaper in Stockholm. For cosmetics, there's Face Stockholm and if you are going to ship things back home or going with a car, definitly should try to buy furnitures. The Swedish designs are just so hip and chic. Also I found food and alcohol are very expensive in ... more

If you go to Stockholm, make shure to visit the old town! Nice narrow streets with old buildings and small shops! In Stockholm you can sence a little bit of the eastern Europe, when you see some of the buildings! It is big, but in the same time it is kind of intimate. Good restaurants and nightlife! Visit also the outer part of Stockholm, the suburbs! Stockholm is like The Venice of Sweden! It is build on small islands! It is really nice to go walking by the harbour! From Stockholm you can also go by ship or cruise to Finland or Estonia, Litauen and Russia! ... more
