Stonehurst, Christchurch

On a backpacking holiday, the Stonehurst Accomodation appeared ideal. Central location about 10 minutes walk to the centre of Christchurch and reasonably priced accomodation offerring just more than bunk and beds!
We booked online direct through the Stonehurst website...this is were things started to go wrong. The booking process timed us out while inputting credit card details, and when we tried again we ended up with a duplicate booking! They were helpful in sorting this out through emailsl BUT i really wished the site had crashed and no booking was made! This place was one of the worst places i have stayed in in western world!

Firstly, we arrived at the place at midday! We were informed that that check-in was not till 3! Fair enough and I accept that, but their attitude was as if I had asked for the the earth! Surly and unhelpful desk staff did not make your feel wecome or a valued customer!
Secondly, we were very dissapointed about he standard of the room! We selected a double en-suite and were not expecting much , but for the rates charged it was small, stuffy and very dated! At best I can say it was adequet!
Thirdly, the place is extremely noisy! Every movement in the corridor and adjacent rooms were heard. Sleep wasnt good! Add to the fact the room was stuffy , we slept with the window open thus increasing noise from outside!
Lastly, I got bitten to death while staying in the room! Although I dont know what caused it, they were adament that it wasnt bedbugs. I feel it may have been flea infested! But to add insult to injury, they charged us $50 for cleaning of sheets after i bled on them a s a result of these bites! Complaints about this were dealt in a very sarcastic and demeaning manner by the manager!

As for thegood ponts of this...well they were overshadowed by the bad ones..
I would never use it again! I certainly would not reccommend it to anyone!
