"I'm so pink and fluffy just look at my feathers and my friends" said the small army of young women trying to enter Stringfellows on a Saturday night. The Bouncers look them up and down and let them in.
"I’m a pretentious git with loads of cash, have nifty on me Champaign for me and my mates" said the tasteless lads from east London. No problem sirs please come in.
"I'm a bit part actor, this is my hanger-on friend, we know Quentin Qusip the famous Coronation Street actor, can we come in?" Of course says the bouncer, any friend of Quentin is a friend of mine.
This type of conversation continues with differing parties of people.
Until a small group of rather large women try and enter Stringfellows, The Bouncer looks at them, folds his arms and shakes his head. "Not tonight ladies, we're full".
This is the ethos of Stringfellows, and the worst thing is the blatant way it does it. Once you’re inside things are slightly different.
Upstairs has the restaurant where the fairly rich and famous eat and drink. There are also the pole dancers (probably rented from Selfridges-see my opinion on them!), or strippers, what ever you want to call them.
Downstairs has the main dance floor which is the 70's Saturday night fever style. Its a white lit tiled floor surrounded with bars and standing and sitting areas.
Now the waitresses are all bunny playboy girls, wearing not particularly much and smiling at every guy who walks past (their wages are based on tips)
The music is usually very mainstream stuff and I know of a DJ who was asked to leave because the music was just not traditional enough for 'da management'. So its chart hits, followed by Wham and Tina Turner all the way, with disco diva music thrown in for good measure.
The clientele are a mixture of birthday parties, rich business men, show offs and 'oh I got a free ticket to get in' (my case!) The drinks are average priced bordering on the more expensive for a London club.
Dress code is no jeans no trainers, and no large male groups unless you have a lot of cash or pre book.
I really didn’t like the place and will not be going back again in a hurry! The atmosphere was really rather cold and not too friendly, I like chatting to pople because there are on the level, not because they are tring to climb the greasey pole.

Last been there in 1997. I' surprised the place is still operating on the same bad concept.
