We stayed at this hotel in London a little over a month ago now for two nights, we chose this hotel mainly because of the central location and because it was only a ten minuite walk from the show we had booked to go too. Check in was very quick - About ten minuites and the staff at the reception seemed very friendly. My first thoughts on the hotel was that it looked really clean and that it was nicely decorated and it looked modern. I was a little dissapointed with our room as it was very small and basic, our room had a double bed, tea and coffee making facilities, a tv with satellite and a small, basic en suite bathroom with a shower. The views from our room very very poor - A block of offices which made our room dark as they were so close. The hotel has two bars and two resturaunts, the bars were again nicely decorated ...

hotel athenaeum, florence

Advantages: clean, comfortable, good value, well located hotel
Disadvantages: breakfast could be improved, no bath in some if not all rooms

We recently stayed at the athenaeum during our visit to Florence in March 2007. having booked a flight and hotel deal through expedia for £140pp for 2 nights, we were surprised at the bargain price for a 4 star rated hotel. on expedia.co.uk, it says that the hotel is well located, within walking distance of all the major attractions of florence. On first entering the hotel, the first thing you notice is the lovely sheek modern interior, then you're greeted by the very friendly staff. First impressions were good. They were knowledgable about the local attractions and also well equipped with information about location transport links The room we were given was a standard double, although the bed provided was a combination of 2 singles put together, the combined size was equivalent to a uk "king size" so not too many complaints ...

Partying at the Palace (ish)

Advantages: Comfortable, clean, good staff
Disadvantages: A few faults, doesnt live up to expectations

This review is about my Christmas party experience at the Strand Palace Hotel. This year, I was in charge of organising our office Christmas party, and, being based in South East London, the department tends to head to Bromley or Greenwich for a meal. But this year we decided to go all out, and go 'up west', and so I came across the Strand Palace hotel on my googlequest and we decided to go posh as well. The booking process was slightly tiresome, seeing as the particular member of staff we made our booking through was somewhat challenged in the brains department. The initial booking process was easy. We booked ourselves in for the three-course carvery meal, and then Channy and I (the office babies) were sent scuttling around collecting everybody's cash (£33 per head).
