The SUBWAY restaurant chain is the undisputed leader in the submarine sandwich category serving fresh, great tasting, made-for-you sandwiches and salads, many of which have 6 grams of fat or less. Offering a healthful alternative to traditionally fatty fast food has made the SUBWAY chain a popular destination for health-conscious consumers.
Advantages: Friendly and good transport Disadvantages: Not much history left sadly
...As the first German city I visited I wasn't sure what to expect. The city was pretty much flattened during WWII, but a little of the old town survives alongside the river.
The cathedral is stunning, there is no other way of describing it. How it survived the bombing is a mystery.
Close by is the chocolate museum, which is a must for the chocaholics.
Shopping in Cologne is not fantastic, but there a fairly good range of shops, in keeping with a city of its size.
Its a busy place to drive if you are taking a car, but public transport is good.
Its very handy for Bonn, Dusseldorf and Aachen.
If you haven't been, you must go....

Advantages: nice people, beautiful city Disadvantages: can't think of any
...I might be not very objective to this subject, because I lived for most of my life near cologne and worked in this city, but I still like to tell you about it.
If you plan a trip to Cologne, go for it! It's perfect for a short trip over the weekend because you can cheap flights with Easyjet or Hapagh Lloyd from East Midlands, Manchester, Coventry (from £30) and I'm sure there are good connections from London as well.
The best place to stay is in a hotel near the main train station. It might be a bit loud at night, but if you want to go out in the evening you want to be in the centre and not 15 km outside. There are great subway connections throughout Cologne, but they stop around 12pm /1 am but the bars and clubs are open for much longer. 3am is normal for a bar, but if many people stay in a club you can dance even at 6am and enjoy...

...Cologne is a beautiful city. It's main tourist attraction is the grand and extravagant Cologne cathedral, which is situated in the city centre. Their are tours available and includes a great deal of interesting information and history of the cathedral. It is also possible to ascend the hundreds of stairs to the top of the cathedral, where there is a picturesque view of the city.
Surrounding the cathedral is both the new and old market, which are excellent places for shopping.
Approximately 30 minutes leisurely walk from the cathedral along the river is a chocolate museum! They have a chocolate fountain, with free samples of chocolate. There is also a gift shop where chocolates of all different kinds, shapes and sizes can be found to suit everyone's tastes!...
