Advantages: Tasty sandwiches, great choice of fillings, friendly service and hygienic. Disadvantages: Quite pricey for a sandwich.

The Subway is not bad if you want a quick sandwich and a none alcoholic drink, but let me get one thing straight we are not talking about underground subways here. The Subway I'm talking about is situated in Blackpool. It is on Clifton Street where it is extremely difficult to park and where you're likely to get a parking ticket if you don't park properly. Even disabled people because my father in law tried to stop for a minute and was pestered by parking attendants. You would think with all the money Subway has put into it that it would be able to afford a car park by now.
Anyway with that aside I must say what I like about Subway. I like the fact that the staff all wear gloves to make the sandwiches. It makes a difference to going into some café's where they make everything with hands that might not have been washed. So, for eating clean food you know that you are getting the best. Also the food is relatively healthy and all the healthy options are marked so if you want anything more fattening you have the choice.
The sandwiches are very nice and delicious. I like all the sandwiches and it's great you can choose which bread to have on it. You can also chose if you want a foot long or half, a 6 inch long. Both are very filling and there is a choice of which salads to have on your sandwich. I always opt to have everything from lettuce to tomatoes, but when it comes to olives and jalapeno's I don't want them spoiling the taste of my sandwich. The choice of sandwich is very extensive and some of the choices include meatballs, tuna, and lettuce. Chicken and you can have a bowl of lettuce if you'd prefer the healthy option. There is also a range of soft drinks and hot drinks, crisps and cookies. I haven't been to Subway for a while and part of the reason is because of where it's situated if it was more local to me then I would probably go more often. However it is quite pricey with an average meal for 2 costing £10 and for sandwiches I think that is quite expensive. They also do special offers, but these usually encourage you to spend more in the long run. They also used to do a ticket scheme which enabled you to save up for a free subway they stopped this when they found too many people were selling the tickets on eBay. I never did get to spend all my saved tickets. The bread is baked fresh in-store each day, the same goes for the cookies
The bread you can chose from includes, honey oat, standard white, herb and cheese, parmesan, cornmeal and Italian. The bread is a baton which is cut in half then filled with the filling of your choice which include, chicken teriyaki, steak, barbeque rib, meatball, turkey/bacon, melt, beef, ham, tuna etc. They also offer a couple of vegetarian options. You also get to choose what sauce you want or more than one sauce if you want to mix them. I usually have honey mustard and red onion which makes the sandwich lovely and sweet you can also have your sandwich toasted if you want. These really are luxurious sandwiches once they are made so I suppose you don't mind paying a little more, but then not every day.

At present according to the Subway website there are 26788 Restaurants In 85 Countries. The SUBWAY opened its first restaurant outside the U.S. & Canada in the small Middle Eastern nation of Bahrain in December of 1984. There are more than 3,000 international locations and Subway is becoming a very popular household name that is recognised across the world.
Despite the diversity of cultures wherever SUBWAY restaurants are located, the core menu stays relatively the same-with the exception of some cultural and religious variations. World travellers can expect the same fresh ingredients regardless of what nation they are visiting. You can enjoy a foot-long Turkey Breast Sub, with your choice of a variety of vegetables and condiments served on bread baked right in the restaurant in Jamaica, then travel to New Zealand and get the same foot-long Turkey Breast Sub! It wasn't until the 1700s when John Montague, the 4th Earl of Sandwich, first decided to put slices of meat and cheese between two pieces of bread for the world to discover the great taste sensations one of the most practical and portable way of enjoying a meal. However, the people of the UK had to wait until January of 1996, to discover the great taste sensations of the submarine sandwich when the first SUBWAY restaurant opened its doors for business in the coastal city of Brighton, England. Today, there are nearly 300 SUBWAY® restaurants located throughout England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland where Sandwich Artists prepare "scrummy" custom made creations right before your eyes--some of the most popular being the Steak and Cheese and the Veggie Delight. Subways are used to helping charities and are a good brand that has helped many charities across the world. Recently a 100ft long SUBWAY sandwich was made to help raise awareness of the 'Help a London Child' charity campaign. The sandwich was displayed in Leicester Square, London and Capital Radio. UK celebrity Chris Tarrant, host of TV's 'Who wants to be a Millionaire', attended the event. One of the standard veggies available on a SUBWAY sandwich is gherkins and many people choose to include a drink and crisps with their sandwich for a Fresh Value Meal. The SUBWAY outlet in Edinburgh, Scotland is located in a very attractive setting. Some of this information has been found at the Subway website which is where you can go if you'd like to learn more about Subway. I hope that I have helped you to make an informed decision and I would highly recommend Subway to you for its top quality sandwiches and hygiene that is difficult to find in a lot of other places. I enjoy the sandwiches and would certainly return for more.
I have found the staff always friendly there are new staff appearing a lot though so I'm unsure of what it is like to work there. There are a lot of school children in the one in Blackpool and sometimes it can be noisy. There is only one toilet which is shared by men and women so it isn't exactly hygienic. However despite the faults it has plenty of good points and I can't see The Subway going under.
Subway has really taken off over the past 5 or 6 years. They have at least 1 outlet in most towns and cities in the UK. Often these are in shopping centre type places. The blackpool outlet is in the main shopping area and is ALWAYS busy!
They offer a limited menu (mostly sandwiches) Their new snack menu i feel is meant to extend their range and possible cliantelle. Over the past 2-3 years Subway has put lots of efford into advertising and developing ... ...off for £1.99. I do feel some of their other sandwiches are a bit too expensive for what you get - pretty small portions. I like the fact that sandwiches are made fresh onsite - i would much rather buy a subway sandwich than one from a supermarket. You can also choose exactly how much of each filling you want in. Unfortunately most subway breads and fillings are very fattening. I think they should be doing more to introduce a lower fat range - i ...

Advantages: fresh food, happy staff Disadvantages: can be very expensive
Having visited 7 subways around the country- north and south all but one have been clean and tidy with pleasent and helpful staff. Blackpool subway however is a disgrace! I have visited twice and on both occassions I have had to ask staff to change their gloves before serving me which I thought was general practice as in all the others visited. The staff appear to not have pride in their own apperance or that of the shops. The salad has not apperared ...

Advantages: freshness, good value, huge sandwiches, nice clean stores Disadvantages: can be a bit pricey
I first visited a Subway store in Southampton whilst looking for a quick bite to eat. I was very surprised by how tasty the sandwich was and by the wide choice of food on offer.
Now I visit my local store regularly and love the food. The bread is baked fresh in-store each day, the same goes for the cookies and danish.
Pros
The food.
The actual sandwich is a bagette which is very large and extremely soft, unlike most other sandwich bars offering crusty and much smaller bagettes. You choose between the full size the 'footlong' or have half the size the '6 inch'. Once you choose the size, you then choose the bread type offering standard white, herb and cheese, parmesan or cornmeal, or you can have wheat or honey oat.
Now you choose your filling from a range such as chicken teriacki, steak, bbq rib, meatball, turkey/bacon, melt ...
