Hi all I have been on numerous holidays with the Sun deals and they are a fantastic bargain!! A few of my examples are: 1. Venetian Coast - Ca Savio - very easy and cheap to fly drive through Treviso. This park is right on the beach and very lovely with pine trees etc. The big plus though is the ferry from very close to the park which takes you to Venice!! Venice is so expensive to stay in the hotels and I found this a wonderful alternative. We also had a look at the Union Lido park when we were there and that looked fab too!! I tend to save a few tokens at the same time so that we can book the weekend (Fri - Monday) in one place, as we did with Ca' Savio and then drive on to another for the week (Monday - Fri) - in this case we drove up towards Bibione which is all very close and all along the beautiful coast. The drive was stunning. We stayed in a hotel
in Bibione but there's a park in Caorle called Pra'delle Torri. 2. Another example was the mammoth trip we made last year - we flew to Zurich and drove to Interlaken, staying at Manor Farm. I absolutely loved this place - although the camp site was expensive - as was Switzerland in general. But the beauty of it all thoroughly made up for it. Set right next to a beautiful lake and surrounded by mountains. Interlaken is a lovely little town and it is easy to access Jungfraujoch which is the highest point in Europe. We stayed there Friday to Monday and then drove, an amazing drive through the Swiss Alps to Italy, straight down to Tuscany. An alternative that I intend to do another time is to stop at a park in Lake Garda - this would shorten that drive immensely. Instead, we drove to Norcenni Girasole - which is one of the best parks I have ever been to. Tuscany is just beautiful and the food was amazing. Day trips to Florence, Sienna and Lucca are readily available. This park is not near a beach (2 hrs away) but there are some other parks in the area near the Tuscan beaches. We stayed there until the Friday and then drove all around the Italian Riviera, stopping at Portofino and on to Cote D'Azur where we stayed the final weekend at La Montourey. Not the best camp site I have to say, although I had just been spoilt at Norcenni. Its out of the way and hard to find and very small and a bit boring. However, it suited our needs as I just wanted to see the French Riviera and Cannes, St Tropez and Monte Carlo - and that we did. I'm sure there are much better parks in the area though. In fact I saw one near Port Grimaud which looked great. Then we flew back from Nice - an example of the kind of experiences that the Sun Holidays have provided with a bit of careful planning. 3. We have also enjoyed St Jean de Monts (Le Bois Dormant), which was our first adventure and memorable due to that fact, not for the fact that the place is all that nice :-) The camp site was nice enough and there are nice beaches, we did have some nice drives around the area, it could be used as a stop off on the way up to La Rochelle etc. 4. As you can see I have made full use of these offers, and another use I have found for them for getting the family together. This year I have a holiday booked in Scotland and Devon Cliffs, so that all the family can get away together, at a reasonable cost. In the past few years we have been to Filey, Devon, Cornwall and the Lake District together. My biggest enthusiasm for the offers is the fact that I am getting to see all the places in Europe (and the UK) that I have always wanted to, the caravans suit me and I actually prefer them to hotels, due to the peace and quiet and lovely decking areas that you often don't get when cooped up in a hotel. The cost also suits me!!! It does add up when doing the longer trips as explained in example 2, with airfares and car hire, but its nothing compared to what it would cost otherwise!! I get the Canvas Brochure sent to me and the parks are the same but the prices are much higher - have a look at the web site and Eurocamp is another good comparison. Plus their accounts of the parks are much better than the Sun Web site and you can see which one's look the nicest. I intend to continue making use of the offer and have Sardinia (Baia Blu Tortuga) and Costa Brava (Cala Gogo - day trips to Barcelona and beach access from site) booked for this year. I hope you find my ramblings useful and that you too make full use of the offer. Enjoy and please let me know any parks that you would recommend.
