Just returned from a week at the Majestic hotel in Sunny Beach. We had read some scary reports on this hotel, in particular block 2, so when we checked in and were given a room in block two we were worried. The Porter showed us to our room, and we were pleasantly surprised, we had booked a twin room, but had been upgraded to a suite. If you are going to this hotel with Thomsons you should have no worries, we were told that they get the best rooms as they are the Majestics biggest customer, although we did hear of some complaints of leaky air con, and incompleted rooms; we appeared to be one of the lucky ones!! As for the food, I am a vegetarian and my husband is not, yet we still managed to both get food poisoning. We only ate at the resturant and were careful with water, ice cubes, etc, so can only assume that there was something wrong at the hotel. We met other couples who were having the same problem. The food is all laid out and the tongs were getting mixed up - I ended up with some ham in my cheese pasta, quite horrible really for a veggie!! Also, leftovers from the night before's dinner kept reappearing at breakfast the next morning. The pool area was beautiful, if you want a sunbed I suggest putting your towel down before you have breakfast then going back. Not a nice thing to do but we were forced to do so in the last few days as there were no beds left by 9.30am. We had turkish baths in the spa, which I highly recommend as the staff were very professional. I suggest you have one at the start of the holiday as it sets your skin up for some serious tanning. SB itself appears to be more aimed at tourists from scandanavia and the balkan countries, most pubs & clubs only played europop dance music. One place I can highly recommend is LAZUR. Its a nightclub which has a beach, swinmming pool and slides and was the busiest place we found. You pay 4lev to get in (£1.60) and until 12.30am, drinks were BOGOF. It cost us 6Lev for 4 drinks (£2.30). Take loads of insect repellant as it rains a lot so mozzies are a plenty. We got most of our advice from the Thomson reps, who were really nice and not too arrogant, they told us where they went when they were not working.

Advantages: Cheap hoilday, not overcrowded, friendly people,fantastic food,beer 30p a pint,Not a 'tourist trap' Disadvantages: Street vendors harassing you, hygiene in toilets, quite a long journey, can be crowded at PEAK times
