Advantages: Friendly people, cheap food, great atmosphere, hot! Disadvantages: perhaps too touristy, and will become more so in time
...to Paphos exactly on time. A taxi had been arranged to take us to an apartment, and we shared this with another guy who was going to the same apartment block. The apartment we were staying in was in a block called Tala Hills, up in Tala. It was about a 20 minute ride from the airport in the taxi (which looked like a hearse all in black with 3 doors on each side!) and cost us £C30 for the three of us.
Some Cyprus Facts!!
In Cyprus they drive on the same side of the road as in the UK. Today, only four ‘European’ countries drive on the left; Britain, Ireland, Cyprus and Malta, and therefore have no land borders with countries that drive on the right.
The currency is Cyprus is the Cypriot Pound and Cents. One English Pound is roughly 80 Cypriot Cents, which means that it’s sometimes hard to work out how much things cost. I took £150 over...

Advantages: very close to beach and shops, helpful staff Disadvantages: bad food, no entertainment, not particularly clean and poor pool area
...not change, though, and was disappointed with the lack of choice, poor quality, mildly tepid soup and generally tastless recipies.
The pool was very shaded and there was a "take your life in your hands" scuffle for the few sunny sunbeds each morning.
Overall, the good points were that the staff were extremely helpful and friendly and went out of their way to assist to the best of their ability. Another gentleman stayed at this hotel in July and received a totally different situation, where he said the hotel could not be faulted, but said he spent this whole week this stay complaining.
this hotel was not child friendly, apart from a kiddies pool, but the food menu did not cater for small children.
I must say this has tained my view of Cyprus and would be loathed to go back. we have been before and had wonderful times. So, if you...

Advantages: The Cypriot people, warm and sunny, many things to do and see Disadvantages: None
...is not an isolated village. It is an up-market residential area of Paphos with villa's and well designed, low rise apartments.
It is a 10 minute drive down to Paphos harbour with its many historical sites, shops and restaurants, To supermarkets etc is an even shorter drive.
If you like golf, then there are three international golf courses within easy reach. Tsada is an easy 15 minute drive away and the other two, not more than 30 minutes.
There is speedy access to the coast road as well as to the motorway connecting Paphos to its international airport and to Limassol, Larnaca and roads into the Troodos Mountains.
Tala is in the hills and due to this, the temperature is quite afew degrees cooler than at sea level. However, for comfort, make sure that any accomodation that you rent is fully airconditioned.
It does get quite cool...

Hello and welcome to my review on the Athena Beach Hotel, in Cyprus.
In this review I will try to explain as much as I can about the hotel, why we chose the hotel and the area and what is available once you get there.
-Why Cyprus-

I stayed at this hotel for one week in July 2005. It was brilliant. The hotel looked classy from the inside and out, and was only a short way from the shops and restaurants in Paphos.
Check In: I arrived at this hotel with 2 other family members, it... more
Although looking a bit tired these days, the Avanti Hotel is in a great location and only a few minutes walk from Paphos harbour and across the road from the beach. It has an excellent main pool area with kids pool too. The service is friendly and... more
8 of us stayed at the Capital Hill Hotel+Suites in Sept 2006.
If location is what you want, then this is a winner-the hotel is as centrally located as you are going to get, plus the bus from the Train Station stops outside. A few minutes walk south... more
First of all, I must point out that I would never have bought this book for myself. I am a reader of all things bookish, most genres but it must be said, I am sick to death of so-called 'chick lit'. It's not that I've not tried it, I enjoyed Bridget... more
