Advantages: Everything has been thought of. Disadvantages: Not enough warning about the water !
Have you ever imagined yourself on a desert island, sheltered under a primative structure gazing out at golden sands and blue sky, with a drink in your hand, and the warmth of the air caressing your body ?
This is one of my memories of the Kombo BeachHotel where I stayed when I visited the Gambia. We were a little concerned visiting Africa with the children, especially as we were on honeymoon at the time and the kids were really too little to be on their own. You hear about deseases and worry about accommodation and this is one case in which I did not have to worry too much. The Kombo Beachhotel accommodated us nicely and thought of everything.
The rooms were light and airy, and the hotel thoughtful enough to have given us a suite, so that the children had their own part and we had ours but the two separate spaces were ...

I've stayed at the Senegambia BeachHotel twice now.
Would I recommend it then?
Set in 25 acres of landscaped
Well lets start by going back to 1993 in September...
I found the whole experience to be great in a hotel in Africa..wow...
Basic ammenities, simple furnishings in room and maid cleaned it everyday...clean towels and bed making...great...The room was for sleeping with no real attraction, bathroom with tiled floor into an area with a shower..
Shower was at times cool, not exactly cold but not piping hot either and pressure was well okay, you are in Africa after all.
Bed had no bugs I could see and although I only saw ants in the room on the last day as I dropped some chocolate on the floor and left it there by accident...The ants came in and collected it and carried it straight home...

Advantages: Location was OK Disadvantages: Filthy, run down - needs to be taken from the brochures
In my opinion the only thing going for this hotel was the location. We went for 10 nights Christmas 2008 I had booked the Corinthia Atlantic but changed a week before we were due to go. Worse mistake ever. Upon arrival the hotel was extreamly basic like expected well worse really- I know its The Gamia but all the other hotels seemed much better.
Our first room was filthy all the plug sockets were hanging from the wall and the place smelt really bad. I had paid for a superior room and was told this was superior. We eventually moved rooms to one where the paint was at least one colour on the walls but it was still filthy. Towels varied from pink to grey to stained to unusable. Breakfast was always no bread, no cups. Bumsters hand around too. If you want real Gambia its all quiet real - you dont need to stay in a dirty hotel. I ...
