A View From On Top Of The World!

Advantages: Real Snow, variety of runs and beautiful views
Disadvantages: Can get VERY cold! BELOW -30!!

Sunshine Village is located in the heart of the Canadian Rockies and only minutes from Banff, Canada. It touts itself as being "The Premier Ski and Snowboard Resort" and I think they are right.

WHERE IS SUNSHINE VILLAGE?

Sunshine Village is located just 15 minutes from Banff in the Canadian Rockies. The nearest airport is Calgary International, served by direct flights from around the world. We took a direct ...
...1½ hours from Calgary on a well maintained four lane highway. If it is day light when you arrive, you get to see some spectacular views!

The Sun Really Does Shine Here

Advantages: Good Value, Lots of Varied Terrain, Great Snow
Disadvantages: Daylodge could be better

I had the fortune to live in Calgary for two years, and for both ski seasons bought seasons passes for Sunshine Village. So what made me go back? Firstly, the resort offers superb value for money, both for day skiers and season pass holders. There is a huge amount of terrain with a total of 91 runs and 12 lifts. The terrain is widely varied with something to suit everyone, nice gentle blues and a gentle skiout through the trees through to Delirium ...
...must have an avalanche transceiver, shovel, and partner, there is a gate at the top which will only open when you put your transceiver by it). Sunshine is 100% natural snow, and there´s normally a lot of it, can we say "powder"!! Although 2000 got off to a slow start. There are 5 high speed quad chairs so there is hardly any queuing or lineups as Canadians might say! And for the snowboarders, this year all the hire boards feature stepin bindings. ...

Hotel in beautiful Banff

Advantages: Reasonable price, nice rooms
Disadvantages: Poor breakfast

everywhere seems to be at the moment. The hotel is very well located for getting the ski bus to any of the 3 ski resorts (Lake Louise, Sunshine and Norquay) which goes from the Banff Park Lodge just around the corner. Make sure you check the times carefully as they aren?t that regular. RECOMMENDED? Overall I would recommend this hotel. It was good value (for Banff) and was convenient for us. The room was really nice and had everything we needed. The bed was comfortable and apart from my slight issue with the pillows we slept really well. The staff were mainly friendly and very helpful (excepting the ?delightful? breakfast room lady!). The breakfast was disappointing but didn?t stop us enjoying our stay so wasn?t the biggest problem. The hotel is also in the perfect location, right in the middle of Banff so that all the shopping ...

Review of Brewster's Mountain Lodge, Banff, Alberta

Rocky Mountain High

Advantages: Amazing snow, Breathtaking sights, wonerful people.
Disadvantages: need transport to get to skiing

of activities such as ski-dooing, rock climbing, horse riding, bear spotting, moose trails, hikes etc. If you are goinng in the summer which is ussualy the biggest time, you cannot ski at the local ski resort Sunshine mountain, but also can do many other things, Biking, wildlife searches etc. To see these you can go to the information office in the high street Skiing and boarding To ski or snowboard, you have to get a buss or transport up to either sunshine village or lake Louise, this is the downside from Europe as you can usually ski from your hotel. From sunshine, or Lake louise you then have to get a gondola up the mountain. The people at both of these sights are really friendly. They are very helpful and the snowboard and ski courses are great. The price is reasonable at around £30.00 for a day for one ...

Review of Banff (Canada)

Skiing in Pamporovo,Bulgaria

Advantages: Value for money
Disadvantages: Unchallenging for advanced skiers; poor food

of brilliant sunshine (Pamporovo is Europe’s most southerly ski resort), and great fun on and off the slopes. The pistes are attractive and well-groomed (but there are no snow cannons), and there are enough mountain snack-bars with wood fires and cheap hot chocolate with brandy (go easy – the loos are pretty abysmal, though!). For beginners and intermediates it’s a good resort, but - with only a couple of black runs (including The Wall) - it’s probably not challenging enough for advanced skiers. The main hotels in the resort(threadbare but adequate) are linked by covered walkways, where you can buy inexpensive CDs and ski-gear. There is a swimming pool, a bowling alley, pool rooms, various bars, clubs and tavernas – but we are not talking sophisticated apres-ski here. There is also a Bulgarian folklore evening ...
