Davenports was, arguably, THE beer of the Midlands. "Beer at Home Means Davenports" was the slogan and I can remember my dad and granddad buying their beer and my pop from the Davenports brewer's dray. By the late 1950s and early 1960s the horse drawn drays had been replaced by lorries. Sadly Davenports was taken over and the brewery closed down. But now it is possible to once again enjoy the fine taste of Davenports beers, because the Highgate Brewery in Walsall has began to brew Davenports Original Bitter using the old recipes of the Davenport family brewery. I first came across the rejuvenated and recreated Davenports Original Bitter at a Wetherspoons' pub on Broad Street, Birmingham. Review of Davenports Original Bitter

iPod Touch 8GB

Advantages: intuitive, stylish, fun, great music player, variety of features, internet function
Disadvantages: fingerprints! no camera, no built in speakers, only available in black currently

the perfect size and weight in my hand. The screen is a 3.5 inch colour display and the rest of the ipod front face is shiny black with only one actual 'button' which is centred at the bottom of the front face of the ipod touch and serves as the main menu button. The back face of the ipod touch is silver and works pretty well as a mirror so could be useful to check out your makeup! This is the face, which has the engraving on it if you chose that option. The engraving was done by laser and I was very impressed with the result, as it looked stylish along with the rest of the iPod Touch. The top of the iPod Touch has the on off button which you need to hold down for a few seconds to turn it on or off. The base of the iPod Touch has the ports for the headphones and the USB connector. Ipod Touch 8Gb with engraving

Advantages: All the features of the iphone but without the massive price tag
Disadvantages: battery life could be better

--Background-- I bought the iPod touch for my son for his 10th birthday. Before he alerted me to the item I knew nothing at all about it. Having played around with it for a few hours, I can now see what all the fuss is about as this item is so addictive. The touch comes in 3 guises, namely 8Gb, 16Gb and 32Gb versions. These are all identical apart from, obviously the storage capacity. --In the box-- I must admit that then the box came, I thought half the order had been missed as it is minute! Along with the ipod itself, you get the headphones, a usb to pc charger and a quick setup guide. Although this seem very little, it is actually enough to get you up and running in next to no time.
