...is fairly easy to visit,with rail lines from London to Brighton, Lewes, Hastings and Littlehampton and a line all along the coast. At many stops, you can just start walking into the Downs.
There are many events happening in Sussex. Indeed Brighton seems to have one every week! Alongside the Brighton festival in May, there are the lively bonfire celebrations in Lewes (you can ask people to make a guy of almost whoever you please!) and arts festivals in Arundel and Lewes.
Sussex is for people of all ages with Brighton and to a lesser extent Hastings providing the nightlife and places like Eastbourne catering for older people....

Advantages: something for everyone Disadvantages: obscene amounts of money will be spent!
...Whenever I got to visit my boyfriend down in Brighton,
Mouselcoomb, which is 3 minutes away from Brighton
town centre, I can't wait for the shopping. The atmosphere,
the shops, the eateries (if there is such a word) and
other such places.
It is more a student town more than anything and
with the mixture of the University of Brighton and
University of Sussex's students, the town is over run
with cool and interesting people. In Brighton, you get
every walk of life which is great coz when it comes
to going out, in my lovely native home of Camberley,
I feel a bit of a freak, oh well can't be helped ...
but when I go down to Brighton I feel so comfortable
and the atmosphere is wonderful.

...a green oasis in the busy town and you can sit on the lawn and idly pass the time.
If you walk along the gardens you will also see the imposing building that was once the royal stables now converted to a large concert hall The Dome. Along a bit further is the newly refurbished Brighton Museum and Art Gallery. This is like a miniature V & A and Tate Modern rolled in to one with a splendid collection of modern art, furniture and fashion from across the world. Refurbished and re-opened last year it has been a huge success attracting many visitors and it is well worth a visit. Entry is free!
