If you are looking for a city which has variety of scenery you will not be disappointed by Swansea. A medium sized city in South Wales, it borders the sea on the south, the famous Gower peninsula on the west, heavy industry on the east, and mountains to the north!. Probably the most important asset of Swansea is its proximity to the Gower peninsula, the UK's first "area of outstanding natural beauty". It certainly deserves the title. On all three coasts of the peninsula, you will find sandy bays and high dunes, rocky cliffs and unpolluted water. Birdlife, fishing, and surfing are renowned in this area. Once in Swansea itself, you will find a city scarred by the blitz, creating a mish-mash of georgian, tudor, victorian, modern and ancient architechture. Swansea is an excellent shopping centre, and has an upwardly mobile, bustling atmosphere. If you are on the M4, be sure to drop in on Swansea.
