My wife and I stayed at the IBIS hotel in West Swindon last weekend as we were going to a friends 40th birthday party that evening and neither us fancied the lengthy drive home in the early hours of the morning.

My experiences of Thistle Hotels have not exactly been fantastic – you may recall that The Thistle Hotel in London only managed to get three stars in my review of last year. Sadly, on a recent visit to Swindon I was faced with an extremely bleak range of hotels to choose from, and reluctantly agreed with the travel agent to take the plunge and stay in The Swindon Thistle.
(Note: In order to facilitate meaningful comparison between hotel reviews, I have decided to implement a scoring system similar to that used in my food and drink opinions.)
LOCATION
Situated on Fleming Way, right in the town centre, The Swindon Thistle is very well placed for whatever purpose your stay is intended for. The hotel is roughly five minutes’ walking distance from the main train station, which is regularly serviced by trains to and from ...
